Northern Lights: My First Grow

My whole house smelled

Smells reminiscent of skunk right now. As little as this girl is, she is really smelly.

Mine were noticeable at 3 weeks

I looked in on the babies this morning. Of the 2 blueberry that opened and sprouted, one looks really healthy, the other was stuck in the husk. I got her out and she is intact. Just waiting to see if it will green up. I’m not getting anywhere the rate of return that @Familyman gets (he’s usually 100%), I seem to get one healthy plant per 5 seeds.

Got a seed warming pad to try to get better germination results. This is my second set of 5. I have some Jack Herer on the way, so I’ll see how that does. I am starting to wonder if the problem is specific to auto flowering.

So, I have a journal, are you counting the three weeks from germinating or from transplant. I separate my journal into germinating and vegetative stages. In my vegetative stage, this little girl is 1 weeks and 2 days (planted when roots started to protrude from peat pots). She would be 2 weeks and 4 days from when dropped and Popped 2 weeks ago.

I don’t count it as veg until there are 3 sets of true leaves. Also, when soaking the seeds, do 50ml phd water to 1 ml 3% peroxide. Someone here told me this and it’s workes every time.

Thanks. I’ll try that. What is phd? Is that ph neutral 6.5 water?

I do 6.5 ph

Cool, me too. Just haven’t been adding the h2o2 (Hydrogen peroxide). Haven’t mastered the ml to ounce conversion in my head yet

It’s a 1/5 tsp if that helps. It doesn’t have to be a precise measurement.

That’s great. I got 2 oz water to .5 tsp peroxide. I like your measure better. I’m just having so much trouble with germination, I’m wanting to eliminate any variables. I can do better!

I then put the cup on top of a router box or similar heat source.

Got a new heat mat.

Just make sure it’s not too hot and that the water doesn’t evaporate completely. Been there, done that.

I can’t believe what a difference the peroxide and heat made. Overnight they are already showing signs of life. It looks like three of them are already starting to show tails. With your help, I may end up with 5/5. :crossed_fingers:

I’m glad I was able to help. That’s what we are all here for my friend. Feel free to ask anything else you may need help with

How are your seeds doing??

Got 5 out of 5 of the Northern Lights replacements. 4 of 5 of the Jack Herer. I am really pleased and consider it to be a great success thanks to you! Thank you very much for checking in on this, I really appreciate it.

I have so many growing now, I have to hold off and wait for something to get harvested.

Thanks again.

Anytime my friend. I’m glad it’s working out. I’m guessing your scrambling to figure out how to grow all that weed and what else you’ll need. Nine plants will get you a nice ass harvest.

Thing is, I had one NL auto started and in a 5 gal pot, got 2 of the blueberries germinated and in a 5 gal pot then went for the Jack Herer and Replacement NL. I am using 5 gal cloth pots so will put 2 per pot from this point forward. If all of them make it to transplant, I’ll have a total of 6 5 gal and 1 3 gal pot in a 4 x 8 tent. All auto’s, so maybe I’ll be o.k.
