My first attempt at growing. I started 6 seeds and they all popped up after 3 days, now all but 1 are laying over, 2.5" to 3" tall and they only have 2 small rounded leaves and 2 pointed leaves that look like a regular pot plant. I planted them one each in 3" round peat pots, sprayed daily with distilled water and on 3-24 started to spray them with Bergman’s seedling fertilizer mixed as suggested. My intentions were to get some decent strong looking plants and then move them outside. Maybe into my greenhouse for a bit, then outside in 20 gallon grow bags. I used 100% organic garden soil, and had them under a 60 watt LED plant light. My guess is I’ll have to start over, but don’t want to have the same situation. Oh, I checked the distilled water with litmus paper and it read out as 7. Maybe the litmus strips are no good?

You can mound up your media around the stem to support the plant; in effect to bury the stem. Lots of stretch is a sign of too little light and they are reaching. More light. However; sunlight will nuke your plants. If you go outside, cover and put in shade.
I had stretch like that and i built up soil around stem to sure it up as suggested. It not only fixed the problem but i lowered the light closer to the plants and no more stretching. But they were not that long…i built the dirt up to just under the first set of leafs by placing the pod into a larger pot but digging out the center. Placing pod in the hole.
Thank you both for your comments. I’ll try to mound up the soil to get them to stand up. I have what I hope is a better grow light coming Friday. Hopefully that will help.
Try thin bamboo sticks to help prop them up, and think about lowering your light to avoid the stretch.
Hey I’m also first time grower and growing autos in 48x48x80in tents under 630w double ended bulbs in coco coir (promix hp) and wonder when to start nutes I’m using Sensi grow products any help would be greatly appreciated… by the way my plants are doing great I have 2 blueberry auto and 2 amnesia haze autos and 1 northern lights auto in that tent any feed back would be great thanks
Roger that Spooky, I appreciate it.
You’re gonna want to slam that light down on the seedlings. Put your hand under it and when the back of your hand feels warm that’s the height you want.
Okey Doke. Big brown truck just left. I’ve upgraded to a 36 watt LED grow light with adjustable height frame. Hope this helps. I’ve mounded up a couple pots now, but they still flop over. I’m going to have to tie them up with something I guess. Thanks for your help Myfriends420.
I had one flop over on me. Not quite as leggy as yours are but the others have you covered on burying the stems and lowering the light. A little sling with a light breeze will strengthen them up
Definitely a light issue. You don’t need to go ridiculous, but a 4 bulb 2’ t5 fixture with cold white bulbs would probably do a much better job of starting seeds to put outside…
I had those issues before . I buried mine about a half inch or 1cm from the seed leaves . It will be the best thing you could do for them in my opinion. The stems will also grow roots . Lots of times the roots are overlooked . You have good roots you gonna have a good plant . Good luck with the grow
Cantgetnosatisfaction, Rolling Stones rock. I figured I would have to start over, their really flopped over this morning. Your suggestion is the only way I can see saving these now. I’m going to give it a whirl, thanks a lot.
If you put an @ before someone’s name it tags them in the post so they know your talking to them. Good luck with your grow
@Amjk, Thank you. I’ll try to remember.
