Newb Cheese Closet Grow

Hey guys, Dylan here. I’m definitely new to growing and don’t know much when you guys start talking about PPMS and all this other scientific stuff. Anyway, i’ve had only grown one time in the past. It was successful but they were sour kush autos and this time around ill be doing Cheese photos with a fairly short veg cycle due to space and etc. I only have
Being a new grower and having limited knowledge and tools, i’d like to ask some of you OG’s to follow the post and help me along my journey. My state allows me to have 3 mature plants and 3 starting out.

MIND YOU this grow is strictly for edibles

Enviornment:

  • Closet
    70-78 degrees fahrenheit 70-75% humidity

Light:

  • Mars Hydro T1000? I forget. Grabbed it couple years ago but it’s still running strong. Its only 150, true watts but I have grown 3 plants (autos) under it in the past. (Buds were fluffy, assuming its because of the light, maybe someone can elaborate)

Nutrients

  • Humboldts Secret Nutrient line

Also:

  1. Hygrometer
  2. Humidifier
  3. Fan
  4. FFOF
  5. 3 Gallon fabric pots
  6. Poland spring water

Most likely it’s from not enough light, if you could afford a better light you would get better buds
If you can’t afford a good light you could add another of the same light you have if you have room
What size closet do you have?

I’m definitely thinking about grabbing another of the same. $ is just tight this month. Hoping to grab it before flowering time comes.

Also the closet is about…

3 1/2 feet long
Close to 2 feet wide
5 feet of usable height.

Give or take.

#C3 (Missed when topping and snipped the cola site (node?) Not sure what it’s called. Can anyone explain what will happen now?

Your light will suffice during veg. Photos so your timer. Will need more for flower. Otherwise I think your set mostly. Doesnt take a lot of fancy gear. Photo are very hardy. Save up and grab another light when can. Then flip. Just my thoughts.

Someone local to me is selling a vipar spectra (200w actual power) for $40 in great condition. I think scooping it up. Do you think that and the 150w will be enough?

I dont know just wanna say theres a vs2000 and an XS2000 the XS got better diodes (lm301b with Meanwell) but I dunno

Hey man. The plants look great so far. I saw you said you attempted to top c3 but missed and cut into the node. Could you upload a closer picture of it so we can see what you mean? The plant will be fine I’m sure. Just not understanding where exactly you made your cut at.

Not sure how long you’ve been on here but welcome to the community! You’re off to a great start. I’ve grown quite a few plants under a TS1000 and have gotten plenty dense buds from it in a 2.5’ square space. Some cultivars are just more dense than others. Harvest timing can also play a part in density. Playing with your dimmer knob and knowing when to increase light intensity also helps. Ideally you would want about 200 watts of LED light per plant if you can. It’s not a must but will definitely help your density. I recently upgraded from a TS1000 with a HLG QB260 kit light along side it for a total of up to 410 watts in a 3x4 tent to a HLG 600 r spec.

I live in NY and I’m under basically the same plant restrictions as a recreational grower. If you happen to be here too, I may be able to help you with an additional light.

40 bux. Sure. That will get you through. Then save.for a good light. I would get it and use it. We grow with what we have. Make it work.

What part of NY? I am in RI. Not far from you. Also, yes. Ill upload a close up now.

FEB 5TH UPDATE:
Decided to check the run off and it had a ph balance of around 5-5.5. I added ph up to a gallon of poland spring and it read at 6.5.

Should I add the water even though I just watered them? Or should I wait a few days for the soil to dry out?

Ok so the way that you topped this one, you will only have 1 “top” instead of the regular 2. You can wait a little longer to top your plants so you have more room between the nodes. I usually top just below the set of nodes I’m removing so that there is a bit of stem left to help hold the 2 new tops together without risking the stem splitting under the weight of heavy buds in late flower. You should be fine like this though.

If you just watered and your runoff is at 5-5.5 and you wanted to flush to raise your ph you could. Or since the plants look to be ok still, you could wait till the next water/feed day and input at a ph of about 7.0.

When you water/feed are you

  1. going slowly so the water can saturate the entire grow medium
  2. going until you get about 10-15% runoff?

Yes. I am watering to about 15% run off, i’d say. They definitely seem to be okay so I think i’ll wait for the next watering.

Also, yes. I am pouring in slowly starting from the outside perimeter.

Oh and I forgot. I’m in the Hudson valley area. South of Albany north of NYC.

Few hours. Would you be willing to ship if I paid? Also… do you think I should flush it and get that ph’d water in the pots or leave them til next watering? It has been bothering me all day lol.

Also, when can I start adding this? “GOLDEN TREE”

And I’ve been running my light %100 until now. I turned it down to 50%. Will this promote a little stretch?

You can run your lights full power if you really want to, but they should be quite high above the plants then. I prefer to use my dimmer and save a little $$ on electricity.

Personally I run the TS1000 at about 30% from the time they break soil till about week 3 of veg. I start with the light about 25 inches above the top of the plants. If they stretch more than I like then I lower the light some. In veg I stay about 18-20” above tops. When I flip to flower I run about 65% power and begin to lower the light to 18”. 15” is as close as I let the light get to any plant tops. By the end of week 3 of flower I’m at about 75-80% power and by week 5 I’m at 100%. After week 6 I slowly begin to dial the light power down so I finish the flowering stage at about 80%.

Not everyone does it this way and it’s not necessarily the right way it’s just my way. A lot of us here use a measurement called DLI or Daily Light Integral to measure how much light we’re giving our plants at any stage of growth. There’s an app you can download to your smartphone called Photone. I believe most everyone still uses the daylight or sunlight option as it has been the most accurate when compared to a high priced meter that was designed for that. I’ll tag a forum moderator because I can’t dugout how to link the forum thread for it.
