New topic from the new guy ha

Im curious about the functionality of a filter setup…like is it helpful or necessary for plant development or is it mostly to limit odor? Im not super concerned with odor unless its way outta hand lol … its a 4 x 4 x 7tall tent 2 plants about a week old and 2 germinating so soon will be 4 plants in there. if its necessary what’s a good setup to get? I only got the tent and 5 grow bags not the whole get up mostly because i read a lot of comments saying a lot of it was unnecessary …and a 1000w kingLED light have a couple fans setup one pushing air in from outside and one hanging from the top bar circulating.

Carbon filter is more for smell, but having a good intake and exhaust fan is essential for indoor growing, and having the filter helps limit or eliminate smells inside

it will be outta hand once you approach flowering and definetly once you harvest…
if there is a chance of causing trouble due to smell in your close neigbourhood, get a filter!!!
there is a saying in the countries where growing is still illigeal.
the 3 golden rules not to get cuaght

NO SELL
NO SMELL

Welcome to the community ! I just like to add set your exhaust fan speed to keep a good negative pressure inside tent. Most people Run exhaust outside. If a good filter fits your budget I would use one.

Joking, use a filter

Is there a decent one/setup that isnt too expensive?

4x4 space I like a 6in exhaust fan you can run it on a Lower speed which will be quieter. Lot of good different brand fans. Filters just don’t buy a cheaper one if you’re concerned about odor. About a hundred and some change to get a good filter.

well its down in the corner of my chilly unfinished basement and i live in a duplex have for 15yrs, neighbor/landlord is super cool and about 80yrs old, do share the stairs to each side of the basement but have separate entry doors. i figured worst case i would just put a strong glade plug in in the stairwell so initially didn’t get a filter setup. Where is a good place to get them?

Amazon or Ebay , I’m happy with terrabloom brand .
usually lasts about two Grows. There is some factors that plays into how long a filter last. The basement area will make you a good grow space.

the odor will be significant it can seep trough old walls too, you open the door to your room and the whole stairwell will be smelling like ganja heaven

One more thing i guess … you say lasts two grows… is that regular longer grows because im doin autos which is apparently considerably shorter periods? Just curious if they would last for more than 2 grows in that case?

That is possible some people get longer life span out of the filters than others. Moisture can hurt a carbon filter. I may be a little picky I’m in a unfriendly state an I change my filter where I have no smell.

Get you a good filter an you’ll be okay. You will pick up on the sweet smell or light skunky smell when they start to be used up.
