Old fart hippie here who came of age in the late 60s-early 70s and decided to grow my own stash after I retired about 8 years ago. With a combination of knowledge gained from Jorge Cervantes’ “Marijuana Grow Basics” and ILGM grow guides, I surprised myself with a 100% success rate, except for an occasional dud seed, with both autoflower and photo-periodic strains. What’s more, I did it on the cheap because I had to. By repurposing the 3x3 shower stall in a half-bathroom in my condo as a grow space, I have room for up to four plants, water, drainage, and exhaust fan. I added a small fan, LED/CFL lighting, timer, pots, seeds, and soil. Once my current crop starts vegging, I’ll post pics of my modest setup. I think it’s proof that anyone can go from seed to bud without going in debt or over-complicating the process.
KISS Method
Thats the only way Brothers keep it super simple
Happy Cannaversary Brother
Happy Cake day!!!
Happy Pie Day!!
Simple is good! You should post a few pics…folks always asking how to grow on a budget.
I’ll put some pics up shortly. Virtually everything except seeds I sourced locally or from Amazon for not much cash - organic soil, containers, full spectrum LEDs, CFLs that I already had, fixtures and timer for lights, an activated charcoal filter in front of the overhead exhaust fan for odor control, a 4" for circulation, nutes used conservatively for veg and flowering, no light leakage. All in all, just a basic, low tech common sense setup that gives me average to above average yields. Not that I’m opposed to technology, but it’s a needless extravagance for a small, personal use grower, IMO.
Ain’t much to look at but it works. I’ll post more after the seedlings take off. Sliding door is white and walls are slightly off-white, so I didn’t paint. Sink/cabinet/vanity on the right to keep hands and tools clean, and to store stuff.
I seldom use this little room for anything else since I have a full bathroom/walk-in shower.
Welcome to Caveman growing. That is me to a tee.
As another old fart I highly suggest spending on a great light used or something. Everything else can be dirt assed cheap but a good light is a need. Efficiency. Heat. Power saving. Spectrum. Only thing in my grow that cost is my lights. 10$ timer. 15$ rh/temp meter. Cheap fans. Except my big circulator. Took it from the business and it has run 24/7 5 friggin years . just a thought helping you back in. Welcome to the forum.
Welcome to the forum!!! Always happy to see a Deadhead on here!!! Excited to see what you grow. It’s a long strange trip that’s for sure!!!
Happy Cake Day @Bonjoyle
The best approach in my opinion as well…keep it simple. Welcome to the community Grow Bro
Happy Birthday Growmie
Welcome to the forum! Happy growing
I’ve made some upgrades last week, with more coming this week. I’ve set up a second grow space in the enclosed balcony adjacent to the living room of my condo. It includes a new full spectrum LED grow light with a footprint sufficient to support at least two vegetating and flowering plants. It’s still a work in progress - come Thursday, the light and both seedlings will be housed in a 24" x 36" x 60" grow tent. I’m going to buy another LED panel for my shower stall grow room, and I’ll use my “cave man” lights to supplement either location as needed. This way, I can grow photos in one and autos in the other, veg in one and flower in the other, etc. I know it’s still primitive by many of y’all’s standards, but I have neither the need nor the desire to grow more than four to six plants simultaneously. And as a retired old fart on a fixed income, I couldn’t afford the complex, sophisticated setups many of you have, even if I wanted to.
Nice. Not primitive by My standards…lol.
