Looking for some assistance. 4 days since breaking ground. Looking a little sick. Temp is around mid to high 70s and rH is about 60%. Dome kept over plant and light is 24" above (GE parts 13 LED bulb).
Have you been using any fertilizers?
Just a light mix of cal mag and Ph water that I soaked the pod in and spray the dome with
I asked because it looks like nute burn. Do you know if fertilizers are in your pellet? The leaf tips on your cotyledon leaves look like nitrogen toxicity and their browning is premature.
That’s all I used, the pellet is a jiffy brand so I don’t believe any extra nutes were involved. Only thing I can think of is water hot on it when I sprayed the dome?
Yes, very well could be the water if it is collecting from misting on those leaves.
Let’s see what some other folks think too.
CalMag is generally 1-0-0, that small amount of nitrogen is probably too much for you little seedling. Seeds actually are found to contain the needed amounts of nutrients to begin their grow. Seedlings just need some potting soil and water thats it. When she further develops then she will require further nutrients either found in your soil mix or in supplemental liquid nutrients that you are watering in. Best thing that you can do is wait, do not feed her, just a gentle misting of water and light.
Good Luck!!
Thank you!
I appreciate the help, going fwd, i pH’d a new gallon of water with nothing added and will use that (as needed) for misting.
Do you have well water or city water?
City water
City water more than likely has chlorine in it and if you’re not already aware, that can damage your plants. You can use a de chlorination liquid to fix that. Usually sold or used to remove the chlorine from aquariums. It’s cheap and can last a long time for 1 small bottle.
Wait, I’m sorry. I’m using distilled bottle water if that makes a difference
Then you should have no worries about chlorine. My bad.
No prob. I checked it this morning and it looks real dry on top. Should I go ahead and transfer it to the pot?
Are you doing a soil grow?
If you do transplant now, I would put a clear dome over it and gently mist the inside of the dome with pH’d water and no nutes. I kept mine domed till I had 2nd node formed under a 23watt 6500k cfl then transplanted into a 1.5gal pot and put under a mars hydro ts1000 at 60%power 30” then lowered a little each day till I hit 24”.
