Heyy all can i get help with a seedling health diagnosis

hey all im back with the same issue that hasn’t let up, its been 3 days now with sagging leaves ive slowed watering amounts and frequencies, gotten a better control of my new seedlings tents humidity and temp, they were started in rapid rooters , were then potted up to the fabric grow bags as shown below , using the potting up method, their currently in a mix of mother Earth coco perlite coco mix top 1/2, light warrior bottom half, top 1/4" was mixed with a little extra perlite, they’ve been in these bags for 4 days now and are watered with clean tap water ph’d to 5.9 , no nutes other than the calmag rapid start mix i soaked the coco mix with before potting up, i cant quite figure it out , ive eased up the waterings for sure im almost scared their getting to dry between waterings now as small as the bags are , their stalks are string now but the leaves are firm lightly colored, not dry , amd curled down , plz helppp

Two thing I notice is 1)they are stretching towards the light. Bring the light down and 2) seedlings like a higher humidity. I cover mine with clear plastic cups for domes for the first 10-14 days. They look over watered still. I put my finger tip in to the first knuckle. If it’s still wet don’t water.

okay thank you! i just moved these into this set up , they’ve stopped stretching since they got here , true i have my humidity dome i could put over the seedlings and humidifier, is my pH okay for seedlings? i dont see many seedling specific ph forums, as far as the coco moisture goes , ill let them get dryer before watering with it being the little fabric bags could i just use like a spray bottle for the water and wet down the top of the cocoa and the sides of the bags?

5.9 in coco is good. I do 5.9-6. Since your in coco don’t let it get too dry tho or the roots will dry out too.

okay so its all about a sweet spot with my coco watering, should i maybe do smaller amounts of water at a more frequent rate

Well it’s hard to over water coco because coco just doesn’t retain the moisture. A smaller amount more often is what I did. I do a little at a time til I see runoff. As soon as I see 1 drop come out the bottom I stop when they are seedlings.
Edit. I want to ammend my first knuckle statement btw. That’s for soil. I spaced that your in coco.

And yes that’s what I use is a spray bottle for seedlings so I can get the water to the outside and not the center by the stem.

okay thanks man i really appreciate it , i wish i could bounce myself back from this overwatering symptom, then id start a more appropriate watering regimen

It’s the hardest habit to break beside just sitting and staring at the plants lol. In coco I used the tp method instead of the knuckle/soil method. That’s how I got used to it. Take a square of tp and peel off a ply. Sit it on the coco and see if it gets moist. If it doesn’t get 100% moist, not soaking but you know like it’s absorbed a little something, then water a tiny bit.

okay thats exactly what ill do, ill stop doing the full on watering method and use the sprayer keeping it moist instead of soaking the nothing repeat, and yea dude lol i stare at em constantly talking to em n shit , ive read alot on here the new growers love is the hardest habit to stop over feeding over tinkering etc etc

Humity is too low seedlings have little roots and rely on humidity to take water in through the leaves

okay thank you im going to dome them I think i brought the humidifier in to the little seedling tent i made up a 2x2x4 temt with a 1200w equivalent sun like full spectrum led light and your average exhaust intake but its staying at like 50% and not getting much higher

I usually put my exhaust fan on a timer switch to only come on for 15-minutes every hour or so that helps raise the humidity also you can spray the walls which will last a short time

Lol. I’ve been to cheektowaga and Avalon.

I’ve heard this also from others that use those little bags. I have some I haven’t used yet. You should maybe try putting the bags inside solo cups or something similar to keep the exposed roots from the light.

good idea!! never thought about that it would also help with the humidity around the bag im guessing! good call! thank you
