Hi all, started Bruce Banner and Green Crack seedlings end of December, about 5 weeks in Veg now. 1 of each in a 10 gal the rest in 5gal. 2 plants are auto lemon haze I started a few days after so just over 4 weeks vegging. Noticed the autos flowering earlier this week. Using an npk veg solution and now a bloom solution on the autos. The feminized BB and GC seem very happy and full but worried they’ll be unwieldy if I let veg another month. How tall are these growing during flower? Just the buds and sugar leaves or will the stalk and more fan leaves grow?
I’m on 18/6 lighting with varying temps all day for natural mimic (65-69 at night, 72-82 during the day), multiple oscillating fans and AC infinity exhaust (using the pro 69 controller).
I’m going for yield so didn’t want to flower too early, but I’m a practical man who can just start the next grow sooner too.
There’s no way to predict final height, but do keep in mind that plant size can double once a plant starts flowering. That “stretch” will happen during the 1st 4 to 5 weeks in flowering. The plant will stop growing (for the most part) at that point and instead focus on developing and ripening flower.
These can grow pretty tall if you allow them. The stalk will stretch sometimes 40% more than where they started. The stalk, as well as flowering leaves will also grow.
I would recommend switching to flower so you are better able to maintain light penetration, and a little more even canopy. You may have to prop a shorter one up a bit to match the taller ones.
Perfect thanks! I just change the light cycle to 12/12 now and switch to bloom formula right? Trim fan leaves as the plant tells me/as buds need access?
Trim as necessary to maintain good airflow within the plant’s canopy.
Light penetration is important and trimming can help, but the buds themselves don’t need or even use light. Flower is far less as efficient at photosynthesis as the leaves are.
You’ve already got a bunch of pre flowers, so you’re good to go. Don’t start bloom nutes just yet. Wait a couple weeks while the stretch is happening. Once you see budlets, then start.
RO water cannot be pHed. It has no ions for a pH to even exist in RO.
When you start feeding depends on what soil you are using. If your plants have been in those pots for 5 weeks, then it is probably time to start feeding them.
I’ve been adjusting for pH every time, adding ‘enlighten up’ or ‘calm down’ from zen products after the npk mix and measuring, the veg npk solution I’m using (zen products uno) I’ve been using since the cotyledons turned yellow. If I text the RO water I’m sure it’s balanced but again I’ve been adding chemicals to ensure roughly a pH of 6.3 +/- .3
I understand not using chemicals after trimming and stopping entirely the week+ before harvest, I guess I’ve been lucky?
My feminized started flowering, the autoflowers are looking really good and now I see 8 plants was probably too much for the single light but still happy!
