Hey there I’m 2 months into my first grow. I’m looking for some advice on my gg plants. They’re super bushy and short. Is that normal? Super tight nodes too. I was planning on doing a SCROG so I can maximize yield, but now I’m questioning my choice. Is it going to take forever for them to be big enough to flip? Should I change my plan? Also, I have some tip burn and leaf color issues. Please help. Thanks
Some plants just grow short. Provide the light intensity based on the phase of growth you’re in, provide temp and humidity control, give it airflow, hydration and nutrition so the plant can thrive and take what Mother Nature provides.
Bending the plant with string like you’d doing may be all that required for this plant.
Some nute burn on the tips. I don’t mind some nute burn in flower but in veg that concerns me. Not familiar with your soil type, but could be too hot for that plant. Would let some others chime in and give you some better advice!
Everything looks and sounds good imo id recommend keeping your ph more between 6.5-6.8 also GG is a indica dominant strain which typically are alot more bushy and shorter compared to sativas you can always raise your light up 5-8 inches or turn down power so it makes the plant stretch a bit so the nodes space out a bit better over all they are looking good they personally to me don’t look like they need a scrog and if you do decide to go that route its going to take a while for the plants to fill up the scrog
I was told by the guy at my grow shop that they stretch a lot, but yours are way smaller than the pics he showed me of his gg grow. Is that just because his genetics were more sativa?
Seeds harvested from the same mother can display different growth characteristics. That’s why clones are so popular: they are exact genetic matches and will more closely replicate desired traits plant to plant.
I maybe got 10” of stretch, still growing some but i used both voo doo juice and bud igniter which could have cut down on the stretch. According to their info. I wasn’t trying to grow trees but the longer you wait to switch the bigger they will get. They are Fem / photo seeds.
When they stretch, do the spaces between the nodes get bigger? Also, once you flip them do new nodes stop forming? Trying to understand exactly how the growth happens.
Pot size, lights, nutrients and method of growth ie hydro, soil, ect can all affect the size: LST ect all these things contribute to size of the plant, larfy vs tight nugs if you wanted what he showed you you should copy his set up and methods:
Node spacing will depend on light and genetics play a part to an extent. Sativa’s tend to stretch a lot so you want to watch your node spacing. Nodes keep forming as long as the plant is still growing. Good node space would be max 1 inch, 1/2 inch is even better, this will allow for bigger bud as nodes are closer to each other
Longer spaces between nodes is not a good thing. light with 3000k has more blue, 4000k has more red. Blue is what keeps plant shorter and red allows for more stretching
What lights are you running?
3000k is good for vegging and 4000k is good for full cycle.
Im sure other people with more experience than myself will chime in, like Hoppie and Arrow as they were tagged as well
Gg is my girl. Been cloning 1 2 years. Thirsty plant. I ph 6.3-6.5 no higher. No lower than 6. She will get real dense. I clean all small branches under canopy. Anything not going to produce at main stem and side stems close to main. You can veg her like crazy. I stopped hard pruning mine. Flower is longer than they say. I am about 11 weeks in 1 big girl with 2 to go at least. Colas are coke can size still with white hairs. You will see her eat lower leaves. Do not worry. The buds will get very heavy. I veg long for thick branches before flip on big pots. If done correct the thc % is crazy. Will flat put you out. If wait till too much amber will lock you down. I go 10% red max for smoking. 20% or better for meds. Just what works for me. 9 in flower…1 finishing up and 12 in clone. Clone her. Also…she WILL hermie if you stress her too hard. Just keep an eye out. This is in soil.
