Hi all,
first time grower and first post. I planted a cali orange seed almost 4 weeks ago and a few days ago i added some fox farm nutrients into the water for the first time. within 24 hrs i got some serious leaf curl happening and a fair bit of leaf burn around the edges so must have got the nutrients mix wrong. Anyways i flushed it with water the next day and there’s some nice new growth starting to happen. My question is should i get rid of the old curled and burned leaves or just leave them. and if i should get rid of them whats the best way to cut them off…

Your pic didn’t show up. I would cut off old burnt leaves but you may have other issues as well. There is a support ticket would be wise to fill out.

Thanks for your reply, I’ve uploaded he pics again and will get a support ticket. But it sounds like i need to get rid of those curling leaves.

Looks like you have a potassium deficiency. What are you feeding?

i fed it fox farm big bloom. that was the first time feeding it and the leaves were a very healthy dark green colour right up until i fed it. I really think i just got the big bloom mix wrong. I put 1 teaspoon into 500ml of water, watered it well and 24hrs later the damage was done.
Its grown from seed in regular garden centre potting mix. So i’m wondering now should i just cut back those big damaged leaves to make room for all the new shoots which are starting to show and even though they’re very small they’re looking a healthy green…what do you think, chop those wither, brown edged and curled ones off and make room for the new ones?
You don’t have a lot of leaves on there, so I would just take off that one really damaged leaf and leave the rest until the new growth comes in a bit more.
So you think the damage was done from the feeding? Did you do a flush?

yes, forsure i deffo think it was the feeding and I did a flush the day after i noticed what had happened.
it’s growing in a makeshift green house in my garden in Ireland where the sun is not strong so that might explain the lack of leaf coverage

By any chance does the garden potting mix you’re using contain a “time release fertilizer”?
Big bloom is relatively mellow, but it can drop your pH (I’ve learned the hard way). What are you using for water and are you checking pH?

@IrieOne I suspect by adding big bloom it created a problem with your ph because that stuff brings PH down. After adding it, you’ll need to bring the PH back UP to 6.0-6.5. If the ph did go too low, it will prevent nutrient uptake and will show up as a deficiency as you can see now, despite feeding her. @Drinkslinger had it correct.
Next time you add some to water, verify the correct ph adjust as needed, then add. The leaves will not recover. But keep watch on the new growth.

I Believe your problem is from,
Overwatered
Your grow room may have been way too hot (if it got up over 100 degrees and they were kept in these temps for 2-3 days)
Too small container for their roots (with bigger root mass, marijuana plants are much more resilient to problems)
(remember, your plants were ALL green and healthy before, so I feel certain these problems were all caused by the reasons stated above
The truth is, when the marijuana plant’s roots are not happy, and when plants get too hot, they freak out!
Often the symptoms may vary quite a bit, even if you have the same underlying problem.
I fixed the problem (controlled your heat, and proper watering practices). Symptoms should stop getting worse. They should pull through and mak e it to harvest… . .

@Drinkslinger , thanks man for getting the ball rolling on this. potting mix doesn’t have a slow release fertiliser and i’ve just ordered a pH tester online so will be testing the water as soon as that arrives. the water is just out of my garden tap.
@Covertgrower and @garrigan62 , thanks for the support and i think all you guys have really hit the nail on the head. We had a bit of a freak hot day when this happened so the green house would have been a hell of a lot hotter than it normally is which coincided with the first feed of nutrients the night before which must have messed up the pH levels and looking back i probably overwatered with the nute’s.
Just looking at the plant this morning and i think it’s pulling through so happy days and lessons learned.
