New grow journal. First time attempt

Oh, my understanding was to start training early to promote healthier growth. But I can understand what you mean by stunting them. Anybody else have an opinion?

So I’ve seen your names popping up lately on the beginner forums and other, was wondering if you could take a quick look at my journal and possibly provide some advice and or tags to friends. Please and very much appreciated.

@csfutbol. From your pics. Looks like it’ll be a little bit before you’ll know for sure on the sexing of ur plants. Still a bit early to tell.

A reference pic to compare to.

Your training looks fine. No issues that I see.
On a side note. That moisture meter may give you an indication of wet or dry but get used to the weight of your pots when freshly watered and when they’re dry. When they feel lighter then it’s time for water.
The ph portion of it is pretty much useless.
A digital ph meter is a must for accuracy.
You can pick them up on amazon fairly cheaply.
Anywhere from 20$ and up. Cheaper ones will need calibration more often.

Thank you @Oldguy, and yeah I noticed with the moisture meter. It’s not the greatest.

Regarding the sexing, I thought it was a bit too early, but was hoping for someone with experience to be able to help distinguish a little. I do have a digital ph meter as well. Last pH check of reservoir was at 6.8 ph.

Your adventures just beginning …I see a lot of good input here… Something to think about is once your plant has damage it doesn’t go away …so look towards new growth to see how it’s reacting to your treatment of whatever problem it has…
Little too small to sex them…

Thanks guys, it’s starting to feel more like a real grow journal with all your guys help.

Okay so guys, today was watering day, I watered them over a 5 gallon bucket with a fence in between. Caught all the runoff from watering the girls.
I got a few readings from the water caught in the 5 gallon bucket. Just not sure how accurate it is bc if the water dripping off the sides of fabric pots. I did spray down the sides of the fabric pits before watering. Heard it helps keep some moisture from slipping out sides.
Tds Meter

0.5 reading= 302 ppm
0.7 reading = 422 ppm
E.C = 0.6 mS
pH=6.0

Would this classify as my “run-off” test?

“Girls”are back in tent and looking good.

These are leaves I pulled cause of color and due to the fact that some were hanging in the dirt.

As always much appreciated for any and all info you guys can relay back to me. Thanks always guys.

Those leaves arnt too bad man, remember the girls can use them as food sources - thats why they can change colour, a nice dark green means their full of food and the lighter green like youve pulled off shows you theyve been a bit hungry.

And yeah that would be your run off, i have catch trays under mine so just pour that into a jug to measure and see how much theyve been eating.

.6 EC seems a little low, for me i dont use RO water so it comes out at .4 EC from the tap. But your girls are looking pretty good :slight_smile:

Thank you for the info drop! Loving it. Yeah I was looking at a scale I found online.

Says 0.6 is fairly low from where I should be. I barely fed for the first time 2 days ago. And super super lightly fed as it being the first time. I am Using fox farms and was told to lay off nutes until absolutely needed.

I’m stuck using distilled water cause my Ppm from home runs at like 450-550 ppm out of tap. Stupid high. Regarding the leaves, I pulled them cause they were really low on stem and in dirt. Was noticing some change to some of them. Lots of videos and threads I have read say to pull low leaves in dirt. Not sure if true or false.

Again thank you so much for input @gusanito
Hope you stick around for the rest.

Regardless they are looking healthy man. Thats a nice chart though, better then the ones ive found - i used to know all that stuff by memory but its been a good 5-6 years since ive grown so i might use yours haha!

Some stuff is just personal preference aswell i guess, but your going well. Slow and steady wins the race in the first few grows. Always goes pear shapped when you try to do a million things at once and follow every single persons advice :rofl:

No worries bro always happy to help. Nice to see some grows too ! :slight_smile:

Haha follow along. Lol it’s funny cause at my work, my friends call me Gusanito as a nickname :joy:.
And yeah I agree, I’m not rushing anything. Giving them plenty of time to recover from my dumb mistakes. So far not very many. But still playing it slow.
Well if you know any pro growers please feel free to tag along.

Okay, so been doing some research about the feeding. I’m thinking my girls are healthy eaters. They’ve eaten pretty much through the soil. Fox farms happy frog and ocean forest mixture.
Like I said I was getting a reading of only 422ppm and E.C= 0.6. From the schedules I’ve seen I should be A lot higher. Closer to 1000 ppm.
Any tips on feeding? I’ve only fed once. Yesterday. But it was not a lot. From what I’ve read it’s time to up the dosage. They’re still looking very very nice. Very minimum burning. Just a few water spots.

Another question I had was about defoliating maybe ? I have a bunch of little leaves on the stem. Is that normal?

As always thanks for all input gentlemen. Looking forward to the advice.

To get higher ppm you just up the dosage a little of the nutes your schedule calls for. Are you giving partial dosage now or full?

@Blue89

As being a first time nute, I was giving it like a half heavy watering. Almost nothing. The girls are thirsty now and am planning of giving a nice heavy water tomorrow with the nutrients.
Ppm was super low and they look super healthy. Tonight they shall dry out and hopefully tomorrow they are ready for a nice feed. I actually saw your grow journal earlier today. Was following along.

Got a few issues I think maybe some input guys?

These are the small issues, it’s all on lower growth. So not to worried. I fed today until about 10% run-off. Heavy feed. Still pretty light amount of nutrients.
I ended up feeding about 1.5 gallons of nutrients to 7 plants.

Results of the run off from the 3 gal pots from each one. Maybe some are on the high end? Or right about where I should be?
Thanks again for the input guys. Always appreciated.

Any ideas to why bottom leaves are turning this color? I’m thinking it’s bc of them touching the soil. But not sure. Opinions appreciated.

Would you guys recommend a nice flush? Now or on next watering? Or maybe leave it and find ppm and E.C of run-off, next time I water. Much appreciated and much love. Thank you all.
