New grow: 3 or 5 gal grow bags & soil recommendation?

Hello again everybody, I am going to do 10 WW girls outside and I was curious to have y’all give me recommendations on whether I should use The 3 or 5 gallon Grow bags? Also how about What soil(best price; I can mix my own) I should use with all of them? Thank you and all your help is greatly appreciated.

I like ocean forest soil. As for the bags depends on how big you want them to get. The smaller the bag the smaller the size will be. This is an observation due to other journals on here and seeing how big their plants get.

How much grow season do you have left ? I’m under the impression here in the Midwest it’s a little late for starting new outdoor plants

Outside growers use bigger bags 15 gallons and up outside plants can get big if you don’t have cannabis soil available locally you will have to buy from the evil empire that can get expensive so it mite be cheaper to mix your own use the search feature for recipes

It’d be hard getting plants rolling in the South around now as well. But not impossible. Just watch them during the midday sun til they are well established

And 5-7 gall bags outside. If your in a legal area, you can go bigger. But again, late season, growing autos. Dont go too big and waste on soil.

Your location is the major kicker to your question.

5 gallons. Being they are autos you got plenty of time. If you want to jump the size throw them under light for 24 /7 three weeks then put them outside.

Are they autos or photos?

You’ll have just enough time as long as you ph your water to make sure they take in their nitrogen I d go for 5 galloners and viagrow puffed coco (from home depot)mixed with compost would be a decently cheap fast growing option Here’s my current grow if you want to go the dry amendment route

When it comes to outside grows I always say bigger is better. If you have the room.

Hello and thank you everyone for all your ideas! Yes I’m in the south and Im also having a greenhouse built in the next week(can’t wait to use it!) and they are all auto’s I’m doing. I leaned more towards the 5gal and thought bigger is better, so thanks for the help and also I’ll be posting updates. Happy growing!

Hello all my fellow friends and growers! It’s been a couple weeks and the girls arrived, so I picked 12 out of the 20(WW’S) and separated into 3 sets(5ea,5ea,2ea). I put the pair of 5’s into their own big shot glass and documented. Took the last 2 and did the paper towel method, documented. The 10 all popped(7 in 18hrs). The last two popped great also. Kept in same sets and all sprouted out except one and tried to come through but dried up. Thanks everyone and especially @Shazm @allinherhead @dirtydave @PurpNGold74 @2GreenThumbs @GreenSnek @anon86641082 for your quick help and response. Here is the gals so far and any suggestions or comments would be appreciated!! Thx, mike
PS I had 3 of 11 keep their shell on after sprouting but moistened and two came off and the other I had to play dr but she seems ok

Asome, I set to watching

They need more light (roughly 20% more or 4-6 inch lowering of your light) they’re stretching like crazy trying to manually get light , not a huge deal but you’ll want to transplant extra deep

@GreenSnek, thanks for looking out! I forgot to say that I did have the lights like 36” above and right after they sprouted, of course they took off and I didn’t adjust it until a day later and they stretched. I have it at 11.5” now. So 6 to 7 inches above the top? Also, I know burying the extra stem will produce roots, how much do I need to bury when transplanting? Thank you again, mike

As far as adjusting the light height, what do you think about how they looks as far as color, detail etc? @GreenSnek…just got it and will do!

Up to about 2-3 inches below 1st set of leaves
