That was the same plan I had but as time goes on I realized this wasn’t completely realistic and there’s not enough space . Have you done a cycle yet on these timelines?
Not a problem though I’d prefer regulars (non-feminized) for a mother due to it’s increased vigor.
I can normally run a dozen clones in a 2 X 2’ footprint. Once rooted they can go right to 12/12.
I’m gonna try this.
Have you ever used the bonsai method for keeping mother plants small?
How many rooted clones would end up going in the 5x5?
Thank you so much by the way, so helpful.
I haven’t yet, no. When I take clones, I just drop them in water in a jar and it takes a few weeks to root out, so ya, I can keep cuttings under the dome for that long!
I just checked, I got my Death Bubba cuttings back September 5th, and put them in small pots mid-October’ish, in the tent November 3rd. Check it out!
Awesome that’s great to hear. That def is gonna make me consider a few things if this is working for you.
Can you tag me ?
While I’m waiting to find a mother I think I’m gonna try to off your schedule @Spudgunner
Theory only. Thot I might have to take a break when we went to Rome for 11 nights, but the clones took and then I had my son water them when they made it to the tent.
But I’ll tag you to my little journal! Thanks for the interest!
As many as you can fit: a dozen? Two dozen?
Just wanted to share this article . So valuable for people like myself who want to keep genetics by having mother plants but don’t have much space.
After reading this article I think I’m gonna see if I can squeeze a 4x4 to replace my 2x4 and keep my 5x5 for flower. Also I would use the closet space to keep mothers which I can keep multiple genetics using the bonsai method.
I’d like to tag along and watch you work @matty777 I’m currently in the process of setting myself up in a perpetual situation as well. I’m looking to veg in my 4x4 and when they’re ready to flip transfer them over onto my 5x5. Hoping to keep both tents rockin!!
I fit a 4x4, 5x5 and 2x4 into a spare room. Because the ceiling is slanted, and the tents are tall I have to center them into a 12 x 10 footprint. Since I’m growing autos, I don’t have to worry about light cycles except 18-6 (or whatever you prefer). I have the 4x4 and 5x5 facing each other with the main doors open. The flap of the 5x5 is tied to the 4x4 to form a space for my floor fan and small stool to work on the plants. The 2x4 is by itself and there is still room for a small table for suplies and tools. It would be easy to switch to photos with this set up and I intend to. When I find a cultivar I really like I want to get a perpetual grow started. Its almost winter now and the lights are keeping the normally cold room at a nice 77 degrees. Next summer I may have issues with the heat.
Side note - I renovated my room between grows. While the walls were opened up, I had an electrician run two separate lines from the room directly to the fuse box. Each tent has its own dedicated line. I kept blowing fuses on my first run. I added the 4x4 for this run. I think that’s about 2000 watts of lights plus fans, AC, humidifier and all the rest.
Totally , I’m gonna start posting
More of my progress and photos. We should def tag eachother as we are doing the same thing maybe we can save each other from some mistakes. lol
I had issues with heat over the summer and just turned my lights off during the day and kept them on during the night it was really helpful and saved a lot in the electricity. Now it’s winter and I’m keeping the light schedule the same .
good advice. to keep it warm in the room I’m turning off the 4x4 and 5x5 from 9pm to 4am and the 2x2 is 11pm to 5am. The “lung room” dose’nt have time to cool off too much. A little cooler at night is good. The summer will be more complicated with Ac and dehumidifier. I like the Idea of lights off during the heat of the day.
