I don’t know what to do when it comes to pruning a plant. Please help
Have you decided on a training method yet? Is she an auto or photo? While they are small there isn’t a lot of pruning to do yet. you might pick off one or two of the lowest leaves that are touching the soil, but not much more than that for now.
Auto or photo, and how old? I dont prune plants this size. You could start training it tho, bending it over a bit so itll be more open and level later in its life
I wanted to do low stress training. I have no clue what or when to do it. This is my first time. They are GSC autos.
GSC auto and it’s will be 7 weeks starting Monday.
With an auto you want as little stress as possible to prevent early flowering. that means limiting pruning to the bare minimum. You could start your LST now. just be careful not to bend to hard. Remember that you are training the new flexible growth. Older growth that is rigid already it wont bend much before it breaks.
When do I add the bloom nutrients? and what temps,RH and VPD should I be trying to keep it at. Thanks again for all the help.
There will be a difference of opinions on this, so i can only tell you what i do.id go ahead and give bloom nutes now, she looks like shes comingninto flower now and i like to fuel the stretch. Temp and humidity, try to aim 5 to 10 less humidity than temp, so if temp is 75°f look for 65-70% humidity at this stage. I train my plants down yours might be a bit rigid at this stage so be careful not to break them if youre planning on doing that, might want to tuck some leaves or move them out of the way of lower bud sites, but you dont have a lot of leaves so i wouldnt remove any yet, maybe a couple if you cant expose the lower bud sites i guess
This write up helped me a lot, I still refresh myself every grow. Timing is fairly critical with autos. This will help you understand whats critical to the plant and what should and should not come off.
Again, autos timing is different. But this is great knowledge for your toolbox.
Thanks for the information. Should I switch to 12/12 schedule as well?
Thanks for the link and help. I just asked the other person but I will ask you as well should I switch to 12/12 schedule?
I’m not sure, I grow autos. I plan to grow some photos but I need / should use up some of my seeds first.
Post a topic with a title like, " Timing for 12/12 flip, need guidance " and post your pics. There’ll be a guru along to give ya a heads up on it.
Maybe @Retiredoldguy or @kaptain3d
These are autos. I thought you still needed to do the 12/12.
No… run’m 24 hours a day if ya want. Most run them 18/6. Thats what I run. They’ll flower “auto”-matically
For autos, I refer to @MeEasy and @Autos-only … Both are really good with autos…
I run my autos on 20/4 off Below applies to autos. Don’t flower photoperiods like this.
How long you have the light on depends really on how strong your light is. A stronger light can max out dli @ 12 hours. Daily light integral. A weaker light or light placed further from canopy can be run for 20 hours and still be the perfect amount of light over the course of a day.
Think of it as the light pouring out light and the plant is a bucket it’s filling. If it’s pouring real fast for 12 hours and it fills two buckets. The other light can be pouring slower for 20 hours and still fill up two buckets. But the second scenario is much easier to control temps etc. just my 2 cents. That’s why I like autos. I get my plants max light with the light far above the canopy at 80 percent. But it’s even coverage.
@Listerfiend
Thanks again for the tag @kaptain3d
Hello @Listerfiend I’m not the best auto person but I have worked out a method that seems to work pretty well. I’ve managed to lose the original pictures of this but I do have the collage I put together to print for an old timer friend of mine who doesn’t have a computer. See picture below
As for feeding. I’m an organic grower and use all dry nutrients. I feed the original pot setup with my veg mix, then three weeks into the grow I do a top dressing of half n half veg n flower, then flower only three weeks later.
Feel free to holler @ me anytime I’m always willing to try and help or at least point you in a direction to find help… happy growing
No. Theres no need to switch to 12/12 with autos, they’ll almost always flip to flower on their own. I run my lights 20/4 from seed to harvest
Sorry kaptain3d, when he asked about the flip I expected him to be referring to photo’s.
