Need experts opinions

Hello ILGM forum, I am back from a bit of a life crisis and have a few questions, most likely for the expert growers. I realise it’s a long post, I am sorry.
I am harvesting, and though I am pleased with the final product, there are a couple of issues I just can’t work out the reasons for.
Those are the pictures of a plant I am about to take, not sure why but the top buds are hard, thick and almost…crispy…, I thought it was because the lights were too close but, wouldn’t the leaves be very yellow and crispy?, and I have been flushing her for about 2 weeks, why are the leaves still green?

Thank you
The plant is quite small, but I had some better results with this Purple Daddy, even if I realised that one side of this big bud was light burnt :sob: I thought it was the blue of the Blue Daddy, but then I turned it and on the other side it was bright green! I cannot capture it in the picture, or maybe the colour changed because it was cut down?
Because now it looks all the same colour!! Or i am going mad!!! Which is very possible.
Thank you again to everyone who can help

not sure exactly what your issue is but it could be bud rot has killed your bud…

You mean those buds are rotten? I had some bud rot issues but part of the bud was soft and mouldy, these buds are hard,
is that a form of rot?
Only the buds on top are like that, the one lower down are lush

I just checked both small plant and the big bud, there is no mould

I have not seen what advanced bud rot might look like…not sure if it eventually goes dry after it consumes the plant material…I have not seen or heard of your particular issue …

Why are the leaves still green after two weeks of flushing? I’m referring to the small plant; the big bud plants’ leaves turned very yellow, likely due to light burns.

maybe there was too much stored up nutrients in the plant or your medium…

Ok, it could be; that isn’t too bad. Thanks :+1:

Ok, in the right light, you can see the stark difference, I do think that was a light problem, I mean, I should have turned the plant

take notes of what you see and did for your next grow…it could be extreme heat cooked the top…

Why would you flush your plant for two weeks? Also if you could define flush.

It’s very common for top buds to get discolored and over dried due to lighting. But it looks like your buds are drying out very far down the stems.

I don’t know the history of your plant so it’s really hard to determine what the issue actually is. Root Rot can cause a plant to have severely restricted nutrient and water uptake causing drying out issues. But again not knowing any history on your plant it’s all educated guess.

I’ve seen members buds turn this color throughout the entire plant before however the buds were not dried out.

Are your buds moist or are they all brittle and dry?

Assuming it’s all one plant, it’s possible the plant material nearest any environmental stressors is the problem. Light or a dehum too close?

So,How long do you suggest I flush? Also, how many meanings does “flushing” have in cannabis growing?

WELCOME TO THE FORUM :+1:
I am pretty sure the problem is the light. The lower buds of both plants are green, amber hairs, sticky and moist; the top ones are indeed a bit bristle, dry and dark, I don’t have a dehumidifier.
What I don’t get is that I checked the lights’ ppfd. Also, I could maybe understand the big buds one; she is very tall, but the other one wasn’t as close to the lights.
I had some humidity problem but got it under control. Could it be that from really moist, they got really dry?

@Myfriendis410 can you have a look when you have time?
@Venturi, caro :joy:, could you also give me your take?

A flush means that you’re running 4 to 5 times your pot size in gallons of water to flush you’re soil when there’s a problem.

There’s also a fox farm trio monthly maintenance flush. (That consists of just adding yucca with your water). They call it sludge hammer.

I just don’t understand why any person would flush for two consecutive weeks

What is your growing medium and nute line?

I do not see rot. I have old eyes but rot stands out. I see some fall color. The first pics of flowers look fine also. Some plants never fade. I have 1 left out of 5 with zero fade. 1 with mild. And 3 sativa heavy fading out and coloring hard. Crispy feeling and rock hard is common also at the end when good light and nutes were given. Just my thoughts. Givem a good mold check and if see none dry and cure.

I thought I said in my original post that I was harvesting, and as far as I know, before harvesting, plants need 2 weeks of flushing.
To tell you the truth I did a week because those buds didn’t convince me and wanted to take them asap, I am not an expert grower, not like you anyway, and thought, before harvesting, 2 weeks of flushing was the norm, but I sense you you don’t think it’s ok.

No no it’s fine I just never hear it referred to as flushing. You’re basically simply taking the nutrients away and watering. Now that I think of it I have heard that called flushing. And if you’re using a salty nutrient line flushing for 2 weeks is a good thing. :tada:
