Your plants won’t flower until they’re mature enough to do so, regardless of starting light schedule. Running 18/6, this is usually about 4 weeks or so. I have read of instances of it being quite a bit longer to first sign of pistils starting from 12/12. I assume just longer time to mature from lower DLI, but I don’t know that to be fact.
Either way, that plant maturity will matter. That leaves very few instances where it will make sense to start on 12/12 light schedule. In most cases there’s just not a lot of benefits.
I agree with @dbrn32
With photos Min 4 week veg cycle after your two week sprout seedling stage so 6 weeks from seed then you could switch and even then you’ll have another Up to two weeks of transition before you’ll be in flower
If you flower as soon as they are mature enough your yield will suffer ?
That space I would run a 12000 btu unit
Is the garage well insulated ?
Not to get too far off topic, but - that is not a problem. You just need to make sure you let the air conditioner sit upright for about a day so the oil can drain back down. Then, it will be fine to use.
I’ll have to disagree with you on that. I’ve only been in the Refrigeration business for 40 years. I’ve seen compressors with the windings that came off the mounts that were shipped upside down.
There’s a lot of Spacebucket growers that force veg into flower early and get decent results. So if they can do in small space i should be able too i would have thought?
Space bucket or not, the plants don’t start flowering immediately regardless of light schedule. You’re free to try though. There are lots of ways to keep plants small, it doesn’t have to be by light schedule. You can keep in a small pot, manipulate light intensity and spectrum, and probably several other ways too.
No you are absolutely right i had thought i had read something about one could force plants to flower early but upon research i couldn’t find any info to back that up.
Early is very vague in that context. There are people that believe plants are seedlings for a month and that would tell you anything less than 8 weeks veg time is a waste. Flowering 4-6 weeks from sprout is very early to them.
I think the times we gave you are a good target. If you couple that with methods to keep your plant small you should be in good shape.
My thinking because i started so late and i would be flowering in June in the Desert here and the temps will be in 100’s i will be having major problems. A/C i can’t justify when in reality if i just wait. Here in the desert i should have a good 8 months of ideal weather to grow in my garage were i don’t need the A/C.
Probably most might disagree but for learning experience i am going to continue my grow. Will have to shut it down in the beginning of May. Rather make the mistakes now with measuring PH and PPM of the soil and etc. I should be better informed when i do my actual first grow. I am a medical user and prices here are getting ridiculous. Used to get good discounts for medical but now going recreational the greed has set in. Only option is to grow my own.
I made the mistake of not checking the temps in June here and started my seeds 5 days ago. Now i am finding if i do continue my grow in June i will need A/C. That won’t work for me at this time. So seeing how i already have germinated the seeds and have 4 growing well i will not continue my grow past veg. No flowering and no harvest will be the result. I am ok with that. Also have company coming in early in May. Sorry about the confusion
