My ZKittles in my indoor grow room/Tents

Getting ready for warmer weather, been very cold here 40 at night 50 during the day. Inside tent temp was 48 F this morning.

These are my plants and tents. I have pretty good set up, I believe. Some one advised to not use bamboo as support so i repurposed my tomato cages to support the plant when it get larger.

Thoughts?

I run a soil heat mat to keep soil temps in control

I use a dome that supports 8- 3" pet pots with a heat mat for 2 weeks at 78 F. Then I open the dome and let them grow from there. 18-6 light cycle.

I have 10 domes/mats and can plant 80 seeds at one time. Just don’t have the tent space. Most I can do:

I have 3- 4x4 tents with 6-9 plants and one 4x8 tent with 15-18 plants.

This time 20 seeds planted and germinated 17 and one just died on its own 80% yield so far.
They will stay in the grow room for 3-4 weeks due to the cooler weather. Will go in the tents sometime late January 2021. I have 10 domes/mats and can plant 80 seeds at one time. Just don’t have the tent space.

Thank you for the comment.

I m actually running ZKITTLEZZZ now end of week 2 bloom. I have 5 fem gals in the tent 2 in 3 gal fabric and 1 in a 7 gal and 2 in 1 gal to fill space in. Good luck happy growing @Racer2037 ask questions tgis site is great for road block or to gain lots of knowledge

@Racer2037 remember you can tag growers like I just tagged you. Put the @ symbol then type the growers name you are wishing to contact. Usually a list will pop up so you can clink the name. Good luck with your endeavors and nice setup

In an earlier post you mentioned your 2000w grow lights and were asking about use of the switches. The grow lights you have are about 230 watt grow lights and would be good for at most 2 plants in a 3x3 or 2x4. You will need at least 2 in you 4x4’s and 4 in your 4x8.

You will need to use both switches during flower to get enough light to do any good.

If you do decide to buy more lights look at LED lamps with Quantum board design. The blue/red LED lamps were first generation design and are affectionately referred to a blurples. The quantum board designs are far more efficient. The quantum lamps won’t have veg/bloom switches since they cover a full spectrum but they usually have dimmers to lessen the intensity for seedlings and vegging. They are easy to spot because of the big cream colored panels with lots of little LEDs.

Full spectrum quantum board lights are much better for taking of photos as well!

Thank you. Here’s what I’m learning and haver learned. Two light are way to much for a 4x4 tent. Creates a lot of heat. I have two light in the 4x4 and 4 in the 4x8. now only use one. and two respectively.

OEM suggests 1 light per 4x4 and 2 lights per 4x4. I did this and it helped my plants out tremendously in the matter of 2-3 days. To much light is bad? I use both the veg/bloom switch all the time. Am I wrong in doing this?

What are your suggestions on how to use them during each stage. Right now I leave both on. 18-6 and after 4 months I switch to 12-12.

I’m not sure what veg and bloom is or how to identify when to use either or how long to use them correctly. I’m assuming veg is the first stage and bloom is the stage when they flower? Do you use veg only when in veg? and only use bloom after flowering?

Thank you for the advice.

I need to make a disclaimer here and say that we have a resident light engineer on this forum that knows far more than I will ever begin to know. Lighting is an entire science in and of itself. I have been frustrated with the science of it and try to read what I can and pick up a little here and there. I can’t stress enough how helpful it is to spend some time reading up on lights and what it takes to get good results.

Marijuana requires far more light than most plants you might grow. Without getting too far into it, there are optimum light levels for each stage of growth. Flowering requires the most and there is an optimum range of brightness. Too little and they don’t grow nice big buds, too much and the plant suffers all kinds of shortages and falters as well. The best way to determine how much light your plants are getting is with a light meter, which are kind of pricy for hobbyist. There are phone apps, but I really don’t trust the accuracy of the one I tried and they don’t adapt well to different kinds of light. I use High Pressure Sodium and Metal Hydride in two rooms, a blurple in a 3x3, and quantum boards in two other tents, one with supplemental red/blue bars. There is no way to get accurate readings in all those different conditions with a phone app.

You need to get enough light in each of your grow spaces, if there is too much heat you need to work out a solution. I have to leave so I need to cut this short. I’ll be back in a couple hours to address some of your questions.

Thank you sir. For myself, I just following the OEM suggestions. I have several, light meters from cheap to not so cheap. I always keep the lights in the range the meters suggest. BTW the cheap and expensive one are very close.

That said I live where it very warm from March thru November…heat was a huge issue. fans and opening the tens resolved this, however, its hot here.

My mistakes initially were many. watering light heat and the biggest fertilizer. I believed giving more would produce more and was I wrong.

I’m so new to this and have spent a ton of money and have nothing to show, due to my ineptitude. I’m trying to enjoy the challenge, however, its kicking my a$$. Not sure how to proceed?

I’ll be consumed with work this week until Wednesday afternoon, however I’ll check back daily for updates. Again thank you for the advice. apricated!

Hi Romangrown, Happy New Year! How’s your grow going?I received my 20-2 cubic ft bags of Happy Frog and changed all the soil out to HF. I plan on transplanting 20 ZKittles and 18 unknow as soon as it warms up. All my seeds are from the good people from ILGM.

I just re transplanted the z’s from 3 " pet pots, into 5" pet pots with HF soil. They are getting big and the root system is amazing. Just cant get them in the tents until it warms up. Hoping it warms up in the next few weeks.

If need be I’ll transplant them in the 3 gal bio bags and keep them in the house until its safe to plant out side. Hoping to make a lot of oil from this grow. With all these plants and I do it right how much would you expect 38 plants yield? Is 3 oz to much to expect from each plant? Rendering all the buds down to oil doesn’t leave much.

This really helps my wife’s brain tumor pain. There really is something to this.
