My wife’s superpower is

Her uncanny sense of smell.
I need some help. Growing downstairs in unfinished basement in a 3x3 tent.
4” carbon filter
200watt spider farmer led and 100 watt Vivosun led both on 18/6
2 granddaddy purples and 1 ak47
Late veg.
Have the tent next to a window that I cracked all day to bring fresh air in and I think since I turned the heat on a couple of days ago the smell may be coming up through the vents. Tent is about 15 feet away from the furnace and yesterday is the first time she complained. She does not like the smell - I love the smell especially when I am stoned or had a few adult beverages. I cannot smell it at all but dang she came home again from work today and said please do something about this.
I have been leaving the tent cracked open a little to help with heat from the lights.

What to do?

The only way I know of is with the carbon filter. But if the tent is open the smell won’t all go through the filter.:victory_hand:t3:

I get a carbon air filter for my furnace. It seems to help. I also have a couple standalone air cleaners that have charcoal too (for allergies)

Yes I know this really helps.

Oh this could be a good solution. She can smell things that I don’t even know exist. Crazy

Thinking I need to close the tent and turn the lights off for a bit.
When is the smell most potent?

Usually during flower production :victory_hand:t3::blush:

So you say it’s gonna get worse. Lol
Since I only have 4” carbon filter thinking maybe a 6” kit that can help me control temps!

There is a way to calculate how much cfm you need for your space. Maybe we can get someone to help with that.

A four inch exhaust fan will likely be about 190 CFM or so. A 3X3X7 tent is about 63 cu. ft.. The four inch fan will exchange all of the air in the tent in about 3 minutes.

Thank you for your reply Merlin :victory_hand:t3:

Thank you, that seems sufficient to keep things smelling fine.

Normally when I grow it gets pretty dank throughout all three levels of the house. Scrubbing with a filter only does so much. I find that placing a very good halogen bulb oil burner about 30 ft away from the tent and burning pure lemongrass oil 100% guaranteed to eliminate the weed smell and replace it with fresh lemongrass. Been doing it for many years with 100% success.

A happy wife is a happy life. :victory_hand:

Well don’t feel bad, I can’t figure how to get rid of my smell neither. I finally just got a 6-in carbon filter and it is not even making a difference. I burn lemongrass oil in my room too and it does cover the smell in the room but some kind of way you can still smell the weed outside the house. I need to get this figured out I wish my wifes nose was all I had to worry about

If your in a legal state vent outside. It’s the only way I can keep the smell out of the house.

When I had kids in the house I used 2 carbon filters. One inside the tent connected to the intake of my fan then I put another filter at the end of the exhaust outside of the tent. Nobody ever smelled anything

lol. It’s like my wife has the nose of a dog. Can smell anything that I don’t even notice. Let’s figure this shit out.

Yes. I can vent outside and am next to a window but would need to modify a bunch to make this happen. Hopefully this is last resort.

Thinking I may need a 2nd carbon filter. Seems to be better if I keep the tent closed completely. I just like the fresh air in the tent. I will get this figure out. Thinking the lemongrass oil with another carbon filter AND a carbon filter for the furnace may do the trick. lol. Will keep you all posted
