My plant is small

My autoflower plant is small but it does have some buds, did I do something wrong. It’s a very healthy looking plant. It was a 2 inch seedling around beginning of Nov 2023. I just thought it should be much bigger. Any advice appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.

It’s not uncommon to get an occasional runt auto. You didn’t do anything wrong. She just flowered too early. You’ll get more consistent results growing photos.

Yep some autos just do nothing ,it also doesn’t seem to be a strain or breeder specific thing
Some will also bolt ,or go to flower from stress like topping or LST too early

Warm temperatures, good humidity, good lighting.

Proper ph and good nutrient schedule are obviously key ingredients to success.

Welcome to a great forum!
.
Can you give us a list of what you grow set up is like?

Soil
Lighting
Temperature
Humidity
Water cycle

Reason being is to make sure you give the girl the best chances for a good outcome next time.

Like they said, sometimes it is genetics and sometimes not. You don’t want to repeat… it would just delay the learning and be more frustrating.

Welcome to the forum. Can you tell us about your setup a little. Equipment would be second behind genetics to explain less then desired results.

Growing autos (multiple breeders/strains), I’ve never had a small one (less than a few ounces dry at harvest) where the issue wasn’t something related to ongoing management of their environment and related details…Medium, Temp, RH, Proper Water/ing, PPFD/DLI, Airflow, Pruning, Training, etc.

Do you know where you were throughout the grow in relation to these charts?

So my set up , I used a pot for pot soil, which said I would not need any fertilizer because of soil nutrient. I used good ole sunshine when I could and an SANSI 35 W daylight led grow light. 20 hours at first then went down to 18 hours when I saw buds.

Oh yeah mostly grown indoors, ph and moisture good according to my soil tester

All soils will require nutrients to be added at some point.

You will have better far results with good lighting. Do you have a grow budget?

You do need to add some kind of nutes during the grow, if you got soil that was meant for flower you may have burned the roots and stressed the plant to early flowering. Or just got a crappie auto, which does happen. You just never know with autos

There are many soils that CAN last a single grow, see often though that addtl nutes are needed. There are alot of variables that determine how much cannabis will eat so I cant imagine it is possible to guarantee that there will be enough nutes.

As small as your plant is, I doubt nutes running out is the problem.

Your light, on its own, is not even close to what is needed for a cannabis plant. Its ment more for herbs or flowers. If there wasnt at a MIN 8 hours direct, full, summer sun plus that light (on 24 hours a day) id expect the results you got or worse. Cannabis is a light hungry plant.

A good light isnt cheap and a good light will cost you about 1$ a watt. You will need a min of 35-40 watts per sq foot of growspace to grow more then a couple ounces every few months.

On the positive side, she didnt die.
