Thanks @blackthumbbetty!!! So then u slowly make the ph of ur water higher and higher as the plant gets older then? As we do want the run off to be at around 6.5 ph? Right? That is what the roots are feeling or getting, is the run off ph… At least near and at the bottom of the pot…! Not sure what the ph would be in the middle of the roots… Thanks for all your help!!!
That’s why flushing before bloom is recommended by many nute systems. If you schedule regular flushes, you’ll be able to prevent your grow medium from swinging too far in either direction.
I am ready to harvest at least one plant, finally!!! In fact, I was having trouble seeing my trichomes real good with my new loupe…, so I might be a little bit late on this one plant!!!
So, lets say I would normally use one liter to water that plant, how many liters of water should I use the last week before harvest? How many watering’s should i do this? I did water with plain water, last time, just with one liter or so, the regular amount…, but now I see that my nute schedule things say, to flush the last week!?! Well, one says the last week, and one says the last 2 weeks I think??? I should have harvested that plant already I think, but want to do the flush before harvest, I think!?! Oh, should I take that plant away from the lights, so too many trichomes don’t turn amber…!?! So, it does not get past it’s prime harvest time, as it might already be a little bit late!?!
What do u folks think, what does everyone do right before harvest normally? What if it is getting to be late? @OldSkunk, @blackthumbbetty, @raustin, @Budbrother, @Sixpackdad, @dbrn32??? Thanks in advance for the help everyone!!!
I just stop nutrients and start watering 2 weeks before. I used. I just water the same way I normally do. A couple of times a week. I used To flush with FloraKleen and 15 gallons of water, but I found it unnecessary and only do it if I need to “reset” my soil.
Thanks @OldSkunk, Would u take that one plant away from the lights, as at least 30% of trichomes (sp.?) are amber already? I had it pulled away from the lights a little bit, as they are just in a walk in closet…, but today i put it in another room, near a window, but not in direct sun light…
Is one week of plain water with no nutes enough, for that one plant? The Gen. Hydro. nute schedule says to “flush” for 1 week before harvest…, so I was thinking that would be ok? The other nute schedule thing I use does say to flush for the last 2 weeks before harvesting… Thanks again for all your help!!!
Why are you removing it from the light? If you’re worried about your trivia over-ripening, decreasing the light will actually stress the plant to increase/ripen trichs. A lot of us use a dark period near harvest to encourage this.
Ok… Did not know that… Learn something new every day!!! Thanks @blackthumbbetty!!!
I think u said that you grow a lot of Auto’s, do you trim, or is it ok to trim, the leaves off before harvesting on Auto’s? Or must be done after? Read an article that said to trim leaves before harvest, but they might not have been talking about auto’s… I would like to trim leaves off before harvest, if that is ok to do on auto’s? Thanks again @blackthumbbetty!!!
I try to trim off the bigger fan leaves starting a week before harvest. I only take a few off each day. Nothing too crazy. I don’t know if this is the right thing, but I do it so any buds that were hiding get a bit of extra light before harvest.
That sounds like a good idea!!! That one plant is so ready to harvest, I might trim a bunch right before I harvest, I guess. Don’t want it to get over ripe, trichromes too far along… Can not wait many days longer, I don’t think…!!! Other plants are fine though!!! Thanks!!!
