My grow cubes keep molding

Hey guys.

I was gifted a few bags of the Floraflex incubator cubes that were sealed and hadnt been opened.

I’ve followed the directions but what I’m running into is they keep molding. I’ve never had this issue going into soil or any other medium. Any suggestions?

Mold or green algae :thinking::green_heart::metal:t2:
Hard to help with no pics, I had to look up floraflex cubes

White cotton like looking mold. This was using their humidity dome as well.

They’ll be fine for a few hours up to say 12 hours and I will come back to mold growing on the surface of the cube.

Ive tried spritzing them to a light dunk and nothing seems to work.

Sounds like maybe powdery mildew.
Still gonna need some pics @Caligurl @Budbrother

Ill do a clone or two as an experiment and see if i cant duplicate the result

I did two clones. We will see what happens.

Need a pix of the issue. Do you add mycos? Sure it’s not mycorrhiza? Sounds like it with the Cottony and peroxide not hurting it. Oh, and it’s on the cube

If i can duplicate it ill post pics. The last time it happened the clones were not happy.

So far no molding. Checked this morning.

Could the cloning solution itself maybe have been contaminated? I switched from clonex to Athena Cuts.

Technically everything is contaminated once opened unless your in a clean room :green_heart::metal:t2:

 Fair enough.

Seemed like using Clonex every clone got that fuzziness.

Maybe the humidity dome played a part? shrug if multiple days go by and no fuzz we know something i was using from the last session caused the issue.

It could be fungus. I get it on coconut coir and spray it with alcohol to kill it but it grows back for months.

I found cuttings always fungus when kept in a sealed container. I gave up using normal cloning containers and got an aeroponic cloner and don’t use the lid. The cuttings have roots in 2 weeks and don’t get fungus. The aeroponic cloner has close to 100% success rate.

Small batch, you can pasteurize it in the microwave for 10 mins. You can bucket rehydrate with boiling H2O, dash gypsum or lime and cover. Wrap bucket in something to retain heat. Allow to come to room temp overnight. Done. Good nuff for :mushroom:

The issue more than likely. Breeding ground for air contam aspergillus

I think you guys may have solved it.

So 48 hours later and no white stuff on the cubes and the clones in the bags seem to be doing ok.

Id never heard of the airborne mold so after looking it up I am positive this is the culprit.

When I used solo cups and soil I never had this problem so its pretty interesting

Solo/soil or the cloner you mentioned before. Neither have sealed environments and lack of air exchange. Think leftover food in container. Sealed up but molds given time from previous aerial contams.

All three got this in some way. I sprayed with alcohol and wiped away.

Looks white and appears to be an endomycorrhizae hypha, but hard to say. Are you using Root Riot plugs or ones that have been pre inoculated unlike regular Rapid Rooters?

So that one wasnt treated.

The new rapid rooter ones im trying have been treated with distilled water.
