My Granddaddy Purple - First Time Grower

8/24/2023

9/12/2023

9/18/2023 - 12" tall, first pistils have appeared! Applied some light LST by tying down some of the lower branches.

9/25/2023 - Starting to really stretch! 18" tall! Completely fills 2x2 tent from side to side and front to back. Maybe should have bought a 3x3 tent but being first time grow didn’t know what to expect. Not complaining!

Your plant is looking very good to me. Keep an eye on that leaf discoloring.

Day 51 - 26" tall! Drinking almost a gallon of water every three days. I did some light pruning of lower growth that I felt was costing the plant resources for growing. Since this is my first grow and also an autoflower I don’t want to get too aggressive.

If I understand the growth cycle of this particular strain I’m about half way to harvest?

Wow, looking good growmie. Nice work

looks great bro… id say more than half way left just from looking at it

Day 57 - 8 week update
She’s coming along nicely! Really started stretching over the last week. 35" tall now. It looks like her stretch might be slowing down. The leaves are not really as yellow as the pictures are showing. That’s coming from the lights.

I am wondering if the space between the nodes is a little bit long? Also it is very bushy in the interior. Should I go in and thin out any of the internal leaves to open it up and reduce the draw on nutrients?

Also I’d like to tag those who have replied to my post but I can’t figure out how to do that. Also since this is my first grow and am new to the forum I’m not quite sure what role tagging plays in my posts.

Also does anyone have an idea how far from harvest I might be?

Thank you for anything you might add!

Figured out how to tag! I tagged those who have replied to my posts since starting this grow in case you want to follow me on my journey. My apology if I violated any kind of protocol in doing so. This is the first forum I have participated in ever and I’m still learning the ropes so to speak.

Thank you for anything you might add!

Thanks! I’ll be following. No protocol violation, the stoners here are pretty laid back…

Appreciate the tag Grow Bro. Node spacing looks ok ,could be a gangly Sativa and in several weeks those buds will fill the gaps. What’s the lighting intensity you’ve used through the grow :love_you_gesture:

I defoliate at day 21 and 42 of flower and only take what’s preventing good air flow through the plant and light penetration. Looking great my friend…nice work :muscle::muscle::love_you_gesture:

Hey @OGIncognito and @Fiz , thanks for the replies!
I had been giving the plant around 600 µmol/m2 (PPFD) as measured with my Apogee MQ-500 Quantum meter. Today I bumped it up to 800 µmol/m2 (PPFD).

The strain is Granddaddy Purple which I understand is primarily indica.

Thank you for the replies!

Show your grow bro! Thanks for the tag I’m setting to watching :dash::alien:

My camera on my phone makes my grow look yellow to but if I set it to portrait mode its way better

Thanks for the tip! I have the same blasted problem and never gave that a thought. I’ll try it later today.

What size is your grow tent? My tent is a 2x2 and the plant fills the whole tent! It’s actually crowding the tent on all four sides. For right now I plan on only growing one plant at a time but for my next grow I just purchased a 3x3 to get more room on the sides.

I’m also running into not having enough room at the top. I have the tent vented from the top to the outside with the exhaust fan and filter sitting outside the tent on the floor. When I first started putting everything together I discovered that I didn’t have enough room to fit the exhaust fan and filter inside the tent. Turns out that might have been a stroke of luck because right now I have the grow light panel set up so high due to the height of the plant that it would be right up against the bottom of the fan if it were in the tent!

Yeah that’s why I keep my inline fan and filter outside the tent.
