This is a Malawi seedling but notice something different?
It looks like it has 3 feeder leaves vs 2.

It will probably be your best plant yet.
From what I’m reading it could be a triploid? That would be crazy to get a MALAWI triploid.
That’s gotta be good luck
Be prepared. Polyploids can be incredibly bushy. Be sure to keep her thinned out a little when she gets older.
Is it a common mutation? I’ve never run into it before.
That’s cool
My Afghan auto last year started out with 6 leaves 3 each round and regular
Crazy that she’s carrying it through every node, maybe clone it when the time comes
That’s the plan. Shes still young so I need to wait but that is eventually the plan.
Checked her this morning and yep the new growth is carrying on the trend. Ive been told if I top her she might lose this trait?
Cant comment ive never seen it
It’s a triple cotyledon. I had one and a seedling with 4 cotyledons. The 3 cotyledon plant ended up being a dwarf and only grew to about 3 foot high. It had small sets of leaves that were about 2 inches diameter (for a set of 5, 7 or 9 leaves).
The seedling with 4 cotyledons was a gnome compared to the others. It grew really slowly until the temperature got to the mid 30’s Celsius and barely grew at temperatures below 30C. At 6 months of age it was about 2 foot tall and had a single stem with a few leaves on it. It didn’t have any branches. The leaves were tiny (about 1 inch diameter for a full set of 7 leaves).
The other plants from the same set of seeds only had 2 cotyledons and were 4 foot tall at 3 months of age. One of them was a perfect Xmas tree. One was a loose Xmas tree, and the other 2 were in between. The perfect Xmas tree drank about twice the water of the other plants.
There’s lots of genetic variation in seeds and it’s more interesting due to the inbreeding in these plants.
