Failing isn’t an option for me! I have 7 plants growing if 5 make it to the end im happy!!
What kind of difference do you see?
Difference, in what?
Was asking about this statement.
Ah yes, i see a difference in growth most the time. And i usually expect to see growth and so far 80% of the time I turn on the light they have matured some. I am new to this so please someone correct me if i am wrong in my observation.
Cool. Observation is the mother of all growers.
@Graysin @SilvaBack203 @The_Chef when these start to appear should i use some flower booster or is it to soon?
Probably too soon - I’d wait a couple weeks or watch the leaves to see if they start showing you any P or K deficiency
When do most people start nutrients in FF soil? Is the best way to know is run off numbers correct? I tested run off today for the first time and the numbers were pretty high. Thats normal right 2700 on happy frog soil and 1750 on the coco loco soil.
The best way is probably a soil slurry, but even then I kinda just wait for my plants to start looking hungry before I feed them. If they’re happy and green, I generally regard them as just fine and not in need of supplementation.
Thanks @Graysin
@The_Chef when do the implement uva?
I copy @Graysin advice. Let your girls tell u is the best way. Slowly u will learn 2 read the signs. Best way is read. A few journals with issues and stuff so that way u know your girls r growing nice and healthy
I’ll chime in here @THC73 and @GrnyGrows
Autos as we know them are a mix of two types of plants that date back a long time. One that we know as photo periods and one that was basically a ditch weed that grew in Canada and Russia, these ditch weed plants (Ruderalis). Ruderalis learned to adapt to growing where there was very little darkness, only a couple hours, of any. While photo’s would go through a more traditional season, mother nature adapted.
Humans have traditionally worked with photoperioid plants and eventually we started making the plants more and more hybrid in order to gain bigger yeilds and higher potency.
However more recently, as within the last 25 years give or take, the plants were being crossed. It took growers a while to understand genetics, learn about back crossing and stabilization, eventually leading to stable autos with low potency, then it took even longer to slowly get potency up to where todays modern autos from good breeders are are potent and stable thanks to back crossing.
However this means that a modern auto has about one quarter of the genetics from a true Ruderalis, in order to keep the potency and yeild high enough for the general public satisfaction.
This all leads us to day/light timings and ultimately scedules as well as DLI.
The Daily light integral for an auto is identical if not slightly higher for an auto, however a modern auto is not a true Ruderalis and therefore highly experienced auto growers agree that a 24/0 light scedule is not ideal.
A 20/4 is ideal.
Of course cannabis research is extremely lagging being but one day we will nnoe the answers to these theorys and questions more precisely and the reasoning behind them.
So for now advice is rim 20/4 and dial in your DLI

@Graysin because your a sponge =p
I knew most of the info here. Tell me how/why 20/4 is better. Simply to rest the plants? I appreciate you helping this newbie continue to learn.
You can put your UV bar on at any time bro. I believe that @Flipdawg08 , @Tylersays , and @JJ520 have theirs on the whole time. I haven’t installed mine yet because I didn’t want to cause any stress issues in mid flower. Those plants are getting chopped tonight so new run they will be there.
Yes - mine are on the same timer as the mains, and I run them from seedling to harvest. UV helps make for a stronger plant overall and of course enhances trich development.
I slapped mine up the day I got it! can’t remember if I was in veg or flower, but after discussing with @Hellraiser I/we decided it wouldn’t hurt anything.
DAMN! It was at the end of my first grow! Look at those sad Sallies!
This is the smaller HLG UVA - you can see it’s not all UV diodes but also has white ones. The Forever Green one is ALL UVA diodes.
