So I think I am going to dive into trying to find a strain I have been actively looking for, for about 15 years. After learning quite a bit about the history of cannabis, it seems like a fun project.
I am aiming to find something I had about 15 years ago. Sweet, sweet Bubblegum. It was clearly home grown with great care.
I have tried multiple seed banks and most things stating to have this as a parent. The closest thing I have found is HBSS from Mephisto Genetics. Still, lacks quite a bit from memory.
So I am going to try to find a good phenotype of the Indiana bubblegum. I’ve went with Mosca seeds and Fleur Du Mal Seeds as well as Fleur Du Mals mix pack, containing various seeds from their hunt of the indiana bubblegum strain as well, like serious seeds 98’ cut.
If I find a decent phenotype I will use it as a mother and keep that thing in veg, just pulling clones from it to test with in another area.
After that I plan on doing the same with Hindu Kush landrace and try to breed them for a bubblegum kush. I will likely have to cross the indiana Bubblegum X Hindu Kush back with the indiana bubblegum afterwards, but we’ll just play it by ear. This will surely take me years, but I am looking forward to hopefully finding and fine tuning this thing.
I have no idea what I am doing, but I am determined. Once I find both mothers, I will likely grow out a clone, flower it and “test” it to make sure it’s what I am looking for before moving to the next step, which may or may not be what people do, haha.
I will post my findings and progress here as it comes along.
This season we grew an Indiana Bubble Gum BX from Mosca Seeds. Buds smell like Bazooka Joe. Plant did very well with good yield. Black looking buds from a plant with purple stems. Still drying/curing before trying.
I was mixed up on some of the description as it did not have purple stems and black buds, that was a strain called Crazy Bitch, that was planted next to the Indiana Bubble Gum. No mistake with the fragrance though! I’ll try to find my large grove bag of it to post a bud photo.
The Fleur du Mal seeds arrived yesterday. The Mosca seeds are feminized while the Fleur du Mal seeds are standard.
Cinderella 99 was also included with my order as a freebie. Says its from a 98’ cut and is an F4.
I popped 2 of the Mosca, they were a little stubborn to get going but are now growing, one of them lost it’s cap already. The seeds show they were packaged in 2022 from Mosca.
I will pop 3 of the FDM seeds, hoping for at least one female. If not, I will still grow out the male(s) to harvest the pollen for potential future use.
I am soaking them in water for 12-24 hours then the paper towel method. After they pop a decent root I put them in a rapid rooter. I sliced the rapid rooter down the side and use plant tie to close it back to put it in easier. These will be grown in a DWC setup once I see some green.
So the (3) FDM seeds I put in water for 24 hours or until the sunk. Then i put them in a damp paper towel.
Out of the 3 one has germinated, I’m not sure if the other two are duds or just slow. I’m not sure when to call it quits on the no grows but we’ll see. Maybe the one is just a high achiever. The one did pop faster than the 2 mosca seeds.
