My First Grow Journal While searching for old school Bubblegum

My wife tried Mosca’s Indiana Bubble Gum BX last night and was very pleased with it’s potency. She is a medical user with high tolerance so I’m thrilled.

That’s good to hear, hopefully the S1 is similarly good. Did it retain any type of bazooka gum flavor?

Nothing really going on, I am thinking about manifolding them.

Haven’t really done anything much, topped two of them and practicing trying to manifold one.

First reservoir fill since seed. Running the ks5000 at 50% at about 20”, 18/6. Keeping humidity at 65 with temps between 64 at lights off to 74 at lights on. I’m also doing a “video” of the entire grow, which is a photo in 1 hour increments. It’s like 3 minutes a month so I’ll be able to see the whole grow start to finish in a 8-10 minute video. Thought that would be cool. This is 36 days from seed.

So That one there in the corner( The FDM), I did wrong. I left the leaves instead of the growth nodes :man_facepalming: it looks like it’s regrowing the nodes, but obviously that will set it back ALOT.

It did grow a single ball right next to the node so I believe this one is male. I am not sure why it grew it, but it was a single ball that has since fallen off with a smidgen of pollen. I will see if it recovers and might grow it out for the pollen separate from these others. On the other hand I might just get rid of it and I can just use the CS or STS on the Mosca seeds I’m not sure yet if the stress the FDM is going through will negatively affect it.

Make sure to post a link to the video. That will be fun to watch. :eyes:

Thats a stellar idea.

I got rid of the one I messed up on. There are two autos in there and 2 of the bubblegum. Not really much going on.

Just a basic update. One of the bubblegum is kind of weird, it has 11/12 fingers per leaf, with 1/2 in the center. I flipped them on 12/25 and they are showing flowering now.

I defoliated a bit, have a bit more
To go.

Purple starting to show on one of the autos I think.

So I haven’t really been doing anything, I had to change out a couple of air stones and trimmed things up every now and again.

The Mosca Bubblegum though, one of them is killing me with how awesome it smells. It doesn’t smell like weed at all, it’s such an intense sweet smell I can’t get enough of it. Definitely looking forward to trying it out. It seems slower and the buds are smaller.

The Strawberry nuggets I have in there, the purple one, smells very good as well. Actually smells like strawberries with a hint of dank/gassy smells.

Overall, I have just been watering them with jacks 3-2-1, adding in the AG to keep the buckets clean. I think its been the most uneventful grow so far.

The Strawberry nuggets is one of the shortest plants ive grown, I’m a little concerned for mold because the enter center is like a brick because the branches are so close and so fat. I also noticed one branch from the bubblegum that smells so good is like twice as wide as it thick, so it’s like one of those flat carpenter pencils. The bud on that stem also looks weird, being more wide than it is, just like the stem.

I imagine another 2-3 weeks on the autos and another 4-5 weeks on the photo’s.

So, I just found nanners on both of the autos. None on the photoperiods.

Along with the nanners, they also spat out a new batch of white pistols, whereas they were almost all brown before they hermed.

Damn.

The Autos are:

Lemon Cherry Cookies by FastBuds.
States" Full cycle in 8 weeks" on their website for this strain. 56-60 days seems really short.

This one was popped and a seedling on 11/18/24. It hermied 2/10/25.
85 days old.

The other one, strawberry nuggets by mephisto genetics
On their website it states “70-80 days from sprout to harvest”.

This one was popped and a seedling on 11/16/24. Hermied 2/10/25.
87 days old.

I checked them thoroughly 2 days ago and none of them had shot out any nanners.

Anyway, I was waiting until all the pistols went brown. Both had maybe 20 percent white pistols, so I was going to check come Monday, ( 2 days later), which I found the large amount of new white pistols and nanners on the strawberry nuggets. The Lemon cherry cookies just shot out a couple here and there without any new pistols.

I had this happen to me from another MG strain, but again I ran it longer than they advertised. Maybe I’m running the auto’s too long?

Those breeder estimates are usually counting flowering and not total length of grow time. Brown pistols are not the indicator of ripeness. Scope the trichomes for that. Do you reduce light intensity for ripening? Light stress, This is more than likely the cause of the herms.

I messaged MG directly and they said that’s from sprout to harvest previously, but I don’t really know.

Right, I was waiting for the pistols to go brown to then check the trichromes. I gave them another couple days because most were brown but not all. That’s when I came back to check and found the nanners and a ton new white pistols.

I do not reduce the brightness, when should I do that?

Looks like my “timer” may have contributed to the issue.

I’m using a new light, the KS5000 from viparspectra with the ac infinity controller. I noticed at lights off some of the diodes on the viparspectra would over time light up very dimly. They said it was something to do with those diodes not having reverse protection and it was normal, that I should use something to cut the power at lights off.

So I used a wyze smart plug. Anyway, the “smart plug” would randomly disconnect from WiFi causing it to miss the on/off cycle, meaning the lights would stay off for 24 hours sometimes.

Who knows how long it’s been happening, I’ve used it the whole grow. I’ve removed it and will harvest the two autos soon, hopefully they don’t pollinate the bubblegum.

A side note on the bubblegum, it also has lost nearly all of the white pistols, so I’m thinking this issue has messed with those as well.

I did try to take a clone of the BG last week. if it takes I’ll try again sooner. If I go from seed I’ll probably end up doing it this winter.

Meanwhile I do have 4 photos vegging waiting on the tent. Super boof, orange sherbert, shiskaberry, watermelon skittlez from Barney’s farm.

Strain dependent but generally one would start by subtracting 30 days flower off breeder estimates. Photos would be after wk6. The autos estimates from seed throws me. I did check Mosca and he started from seed. I did his frosted watermelon auto and it was way longer from seed to ripeness than he states.

Good luck with the new lineup. I have a Barney’s Orange Sherb going now. I just finished stretch so set a reminder for 65 days set.
