More Than Crispy Leaves, Please Help!

This fell off of my DoSiSo. I have cut 10 more leaves off of the plant.

In soil. It was a hard start to get these plants to grow. I have all new soil and used a small amount of Gaia Nutrients. That is when the plant “turned” bad.

This is the GDP right next to it. Notice that the GDP has flowers and the DoSiSo is very late starting. The GDP has been in flower for 39 days but the DoSiDo hasn’t started yet.
For being a weed, these are sure hard to grow!

Any more ideas??

What kind of soil?

Fox farm Happy Faog

With what you have offered as info and the pics, I would say heat. Drop your temp by 10°F and give her a good watering and see how she rebounds. The damaged leafs will not repair and you are good to cut them off once they are no longer doing the job they are designed for.
If you can fill this out to the best you can, it will help us to determine a better answer than just heat.
Experienced community members and expert staff will be better informed and more capable of providing a more accurate answer with the questions below filled out.

Answer these simple questions the best you can.
If you do not know, or do not use something; Just say so; Or post

Looks like a phosphorus issue to me

Either

the soil ph is out of range

There isn’t enough in the soil/being provided

There is a lock out due to another nutrient being in excess

Fill in the above questionnaire as best you can and that will help us better help you.

I have that chart and it is a good one for the antagonist properties that affect the the way they work together. Great chart!!

How the hell do you read that!!!

I lean there myself. Especially if not checking and the soil not self regulating. I would start there. Just me. All the goodies in the soil do no good if not absorbed.

Soil looks dry to me? I would soak the soil good, take your time and let the feed water make its way into the soil, might have dry pockets in the soil. Test runoff.

@Bonjoyle @Skydiver thanks for the response.

This is a So Si Do fromILGM 30% Sativa 70@ Indica

The Do Si Do broke ground on Dec 29. It has been 76 days. I don’t see too many flowers starting.
Happy Frog Soil

I use 5 gallon bags

I have had a low ph on runoffs, 5.8. I was told to raise theIN ph to 7.5 to bring the ph up in the soil. 2 waterings ago, March 9, 1/2 gallon with no nutes.
IN 7.5ph OUT 6.2 1260/700 EC 3.3
March 13, one gallon plain distilled water
IN 7.5ph OUT 5.8! 1280/700 EC 3.7

Apera for ph and BlueLabs for the PPM and EC. Both calibrated.

Feb. 9, I added GAIA nutes, general, grow big, bloom with minimal amounts, 1/8 tbs.
Feb 13 I added some Cal-Mag at 6.2ph. 1/4 of what was recommended.
Feb 16, I saw the first yellow of the leaves.

This is an indoor auto in a VIVOSUN kit that is 2x4 and 5 ft high. It has a 350 watt light. A 6 inch oscillating fan and a 4 inch charcoal vent.

Light schedule is 17 - 7 on.

Temps vary here in the southern U.S. Here Day 60’s nights 40’s. Feb in began to heat up, 75 days 50’s nights. Today it was warm, 87 with nights in the lower 70’s.

For the vent, a 4 inch HydroMars that I use to pull the air from the top of the tent, 6 feet of hose to the pump that is mounted to a table with no exit hose on the pump. Blows right out the window, with a nice down wind…

I have a dehumidifier that I used in the MH 2.3 x 2.3. It is struggling in this larger tent. I will be getting another one tomorrow.

I do not add Co2 to the tent.

That answers your request for info. From below here I will add events that happened. It might be pretty long. Noobies, pay attention, I’m new too!

I planted in October while it was cooling off…5 failures until I changed everything to new. Soil, pots distilled water that I have used in the past.

Dec. 29 two seeds popped. From red cups to 5 gallon bags. It is p[ossible that I did not get all of the soil out of this bag, maybe an inch or so was left over and that soil had some Gaia bloom and general puurpose. All of the soil on top of that was new Happy Frog.

I document the plant as it grows daily.

I did not water the soil but used a dome for 3 days. Opened and aired out the dome and re-watered 3 times a day. Squirted 3 small shots of distilled water around the mound. The light is 18 - 6 on 30%.

Day 7, I noticed stunted growth only had 2 leaves.

Day 10 She has had a growth spurt. 2 inches tall and starting a second node. Second node is 3/8 inch above the first one. Light is 14 in at 75%. 74 deg, 61% RH, 6.2 H2O.

Day 23 4 inches tall and 5 inches wide with nodes 1/8 inch apart from #3 to 5. Watered with 6.2ph. The light is hot, turned down to 75% at 17 inches. 91 deg, 61% RH.

Day 30 She is bigger 4 in tall and 7 in wide with LST. Wilting some.

Day 34 FIRST DAY OF NUTES Added 1/8 tbs of Fox Farm grow.

Day 42 It is not beginning to flower. Added 1/2 tsp of each to a gallon of water.
Gaia Bloom, Gaia General, Cultivation Nation Micro, and a tbs of worm castings (poop). I noticed some yellowing of leaves towards the bottom of the plant. Light is hot, 94 deg 61% RH. I moved the fan to blow on the light and still create movement of the plants.

I check the soil for dampness with a moisture meter but average watering every 3-4 days

Day 47 watered with 6.2ph. on the runoff: 3100/700, 6.0ph. 6 leaves are turning brown. They go Light Yellow, dark brown and then fell off.

Day 55 Flush with 3 gallons plain distilled water. Runoff before 4270/700 EC 5.7 after the flush, 2120 EC 1.8 5.8ph.

At this point I realized the ph was too low. I started watering every 3 days with 7.4ph.

Day 70 .5 gallon of 7.4ph added. Runoff was 1260 3.3 6.2ph

Day 75 1260 3.3 6.2

That’s it. 2 more large leaves fell off today.

Do you think this plant can be saved??

I’m sure you can get the plant squared away getting her healthy.
I’m not familiar with either Gaia or fox farm nutrients but it seems like they are hungry as they are 77 days growing and haven’t been fed much based on above post.

I would suggest also to keep watering with the feed PH above 7 to help elevate the soil PH to get it around 6.5
As a side note when checking PH of either distilled or RO water because they have virtually no PPM in solution you can’t reliably measure the PH if just watering with those waters. You can add some CalMag or even a pinch of Sea-90 or other quality sea salt to raise the ppm to around 75-100 in order to actually measure its PH.
By nature sea salt will raise the alkalinity of the base water.
It just takes a pinch or so per gallon to raise both ppm and ph.

I’m sure those nutrients you have have instructions on how much to use and I suggest following them again as it seems your not feeding them much and older leaves 2 1/2 months old will eventually yellow and die as they normally do.

What is your tap waters PH and PPM?

Hopefully others will chime in that may have other suggestions and may also use those nutrients.

Hope this helps

So I’m actually kind of dealing with this situation now if you have a couple answers or advice. I have well water, which is very hard water and I can adjust ph accordingly but when my soil drys I see the white build up( calcium/magnesium) so I’m fearful of continuing to use the water as is for fear of build up or nutrient surplus then lock out yada yada. So I bought a distiller to distill my own water but now I’m finding out the ph battle of distilled water. I tested EC of my distilled water and it was 0.0 I can also test ppm but haven’t, is there a ppm number I’m looking to hit so that the water can be PH tested? And if so can I just mix some of my regular water with my distilled water in order to lighten the load of calcium/magnesium it’s getting?

And for a little more info, my EC of regular water is .3 and PH is 7.7-8.0. Reason I’m wondering all this is I’m new grower on day 15 above ground of 1st grow. I just transplanted my plants yesterday and then watered until slight runoff, when I tested it my PH was 5.9 so I want to bump that up a little and I understand how to go about that but I want to be able to water from here on out without giving so many salts or unknown nutrients, therefore I need to be able to PH my distilled water or my diluted water If I do the mix idea. Thanks sorry for the ramble just trying to dial in!

Try mixing one gallon of distilled with one gallon of tap and check ppm and PH.
Sounds like your PH coming out is low if your using soil as a medium you’ll want that to be between 6-7 ph with 6.5 as a sweet spot.

Google EC vs PPM and you’ll get your answers on the difference which is really just a math difference. Example an EC of 1.0 could be the same as a ppm of 700 depending on the meter you have and the math used when it was built.

Low PPM water under 50 or so won’t reliably be able to read the PH. If I add a pinch of sea salt to 1 gallon of my RO it goes up to around 85ppm and will test ok for PH.

The PH of distilled water or RO water doesn’t add or take away (+ or - Hydrogen ions) so it will not change the soil PH and will assume the current PH of the soil.

Hope this help.
Any questions feel free to ask using @Skydiver or whomever you wish to ask @tryingtotry

So do you think if I mix 1 gallon distilled with 1 gallon tap and PH that mix to say 7.0-7.2 it would help get my soil ph up? Or would it depend on ppm or EC? I k ow they are same thing btw and my meters are both blue lab meters

I could test now if it would help diagnose. I just want to get my soil ph up without adding so much salt from my natural well water

And by your pics and explanations I’d basically be using my natural hard water like your using the sea salt there, and if I get my water to at least 85 ppm then my ph meter will get an accurate reading?

You said your run off was under 6ph
You want that number to come up to around 6.5
Try mixing your tap and distilled 50/50 whether it’s a quart or a gallon of each and check that for EC and PH.
If it comes out to say 7.2 or whatever this would be something to use to water to help bring up your run off PH to above 6.

So I haven’t seen any pics of specific issues your having with your plants. Are you having any?

If your specific concern is your tap water moving forward you’ll want to probably use distilled or RO water and of just using that it will take the profile PH of what the soil is and not raise nor lower it.
If you want to raise PH water in with a PH higher than what it is now.
Test the run off next time you water to verify things and go from there.
Yea somewhere around 75-100ppm or more will be enough solids in solution to get an accurate PH reading.

Ty for response! And no I don’t have issues yet but I know it’s easier to prevent issues than correct them once they arise so just trying to have as much knowledge as possible thanks again!
