hey @Amjk. i read a lot of the stuff on here and this was from a post, don’t remember who, am old and decrepit lol, but he has been using it for a couple of years. he says in his reading he found out that with the high intensity lights we have now the plants use of them goes down after 5 hours. by doing 6 on 2 off, every 6 hours your plants get a break from the heat and can reset so that they can make best use of light after their 2 hour nap. it also keeps from banging the plant with 18 hours straight of high intense light. he said try it and you will find your plants will love it. my eyesight and my lack of experience with plants to be able to tell if the plant likes it is a hold up on that one to evaluate whether the plants do like it, but it has helped keep temps down in tent. i have nothing to compare it to as this is my first try, but like the strategy of it and none of the “old dogs” poo poo’d it so i went with it. also, my plants seem to be liking it!
Yeah makes sense Iv had silly problems with heat, Iv got 4 oscillating fans in the tent, an extractor fan, 2 intake fans and iv just bought a mini air conditioner for outside the tent to face my air vent. I wonder if this would work in flower or if it would mess with the flowering process?

no, this is only for germ/seedling/veg stage, you must do the 12 hour thing for flowering. though that might be a good experiment to try i would not want to take the chance of screwing up 4 months work lol. i will try to find the thread i got this from and see if it says anything about flowering but if i remember right it was not to be used in that. the other thing is that i don’t think it hurts your flowering plants to be a little hotter than your veg plants. end of summer sun and all that stuff.i use a 315 for my veg(one bulb) cmh… and flowering will be with the 630 (two bulbs) cmh. if i could control stuff better i would have my veg top out at 74 to 76 degrees f and wouldn’t mind if my flowering tent gets to the 80 mark. i like the idea of pushing flowering plants with stress to help enhance buds but you have to be careful you don’t overdue it and turn them herme.

just went and took two more sun leaves off queen b. i now just have the highest set of sun leaves on the plant, the rest have been removed.
Is that your phototron prune method?

yep @AAA. i am trying to force plant to put most of it’s energy at this early stage into growing lots of branches. Thursday i will put up photos of both queen b and nancy. nancy is my control plant for this experiment. i will only take off bad leaves on nancy and neither she nor queen will get topped. both homer and trixie got topped a couple of days ago. i will document weight of wet harvest separately to decide if and/or how well it worked. This is probably the only time i will top any of my plants, i don’t really care about a huge quantity out of any plant, i want the center bud for my personal stash. if i get an ounce or two from each plant i will be happy with six plants coming from flowering tent. that is more than i can smoke before next full harvest, rest i’ll be giving away or selling at cut-rate prices to family and friends only.

That is a lot like my grow even on this first one for me ever. If I get 6 ounces from two plants It would take me a whole year to smoke that and even then I am not sure I would finish it all. I am just happy to enjoy growing a Maui Wowie. I hope it tastes as good as I it did when I was a kid.

you would be welcome @Oldsoldier1976 ! i suspect that i smoke quite a bit more than you. i smoke a little over two ounces a month when i’m paying for it… i suspect when i have my own i will smoke a little more lol. friend of mine and i went to maui to celebrate my divorce in the early 90’s and i got to smoke some wowie while there. we were in the hotel room when three security came to the door and said… “come on guys, you know better than smoking that in here!” lol. reading on here Maui is not an easy grow.

this should have been 34 days out of soil, 8 days in solos, 5 days out of soil. accuracy counts… i messed up the date on the little germs a couple days ago.
56% humid…76f degrees at the end of 6 hour on cycle.
i don’t understand why i had 80f temps yesterday. i do have two heat vents upstairs and one of them was half way open. i closed it and now have kept below 80 today.
i am afraid that my timing for transplants might be screwed up. i think it will be time to go to flowering before it is time to go to 5 gallon cloth pots. am i supposed to be in 5 gal pot before i send to flower or is it possible to transplant a couple weeks into flowering? @MattyBear @blackthumbbetty
