green sunshine earth dust soil amendments
As a living soil.
Just noticed this growth in the top of my soil. I’m guessing it’s the good kind of fungi showing a healthy living microbe laced environment-which is the earth dust
OTHO maybe it’s some type of damaging mold that I’m unaware of as a rookie grower .
Just double checking with the forum and more experienced growers that I’m correct and it’s not something to be alarmed about
Thanks for the tag Ms Bunny, hi @downbythepylons welcome to the neighborhood it looks to me like a fungi called mycelium and it’s one of the good guys it’s a sign of healthy living soil I’ve noticed my fresh ff happy frog has this grow on it in the beginning when I’m cooking my soil and I have the light off
Very well could be mycelium.
Is it all bright white?
Or is there any grey tent to it anywhere?
Mycelium will be all white, mold will typically be grayish in areas…
White fuzzy mold is ok, part of the composting process. But if you’re seeing it on the surface your soil is staying too damp.
When you water, does it fall right through or does it bead up and stay on the surface for a short period? If so, and it seems compacted, get in there in scratch it up like you’re applying a top dressing. Aloe water can also help.
My first grow I ever “tried” (complete failure).I watered almost EVERY DAY! Eventually I had mold growing on top of my soil. Lesson learned! Hopefully you’re not watering to much? Good luck
I’m trying the yucca extract stuff for the first time and I’m really impressed with how well it works. I just happened to already have some fox farm sledgehammer on hand from when I used synthetic nutes so I figured I’d use it. I just don’t use it as directed by ff because I grow in living soil I just mix it up and soak the soil till it just starts to drip from the bottom. Imo there’s never a reason to actually flush living soil unless the original mix was done wrong and it can’t be fixed by adding something even then I would probably just dump it and start over
