Microgreens - Anyone else growing them?

I’ve started growing microgreens along with my plants, and veggies. Anyone else growing them? I’ll be harvesting these in about a week. They come out of the dark tomorrow.

No but been watching a few you tube videos on it, always up to try something. Any web site or any place to get more info that you would recommend. You say coming out of dark ? From the videos I’ve seen you just put soil and seed in a swallow container and they do there thing. How far off am I ? Have an extra light and tent was plan on using that for a set up? Thanks

That’s pretty much it, but the first few days they need to be in the dark. I use two trays, one for dirt and one to cover. They need to be really humid and in the dark, just like mj seeds to germinate. On day four I pull the cover off and let 'em have light. Five or six days later (maybe sooner) I’m harvesting and having fresh salad for we humans, and some veggies for the pups too. They get all raw food.

Let me find my info and I’ll get back to you tomorrow. I’m pooped. Just getting home.

Here’s today when I pulled the dome.

Hey thanks a lot look forward to that

I buy my seeds and some supplies from True Leaf Market https://www.trueleafmarket.com/collections/microgreens-kits-and-supplies. This batch is their Basic Garden – and don’t require soaking before spreading on soil. Also, like MJ, there are all kinds of ways to get around spending money you don’t have to. For instance you can grow them in cafeteria trays. Go to the local school and see if they want to get rid of some. You don’t need fancy soil. I’m growing these in FFHF + FFOF because I had a batch made up. They just need LED light – not big, adjustable lights.

As to learning, there just isn’t a lot to learn. It’s so easy in comparison to MJ. Put water in container, add dirt, distribute microgreens seeds (1 oz) per 10x20 container, lightly press on seeds with a spoon/spatula – just to make sure they have contact with the soild. Don’t mash 'em in. Cover with another tray/container so they are in the dark. Spray the lid of the container every 12 hours. I use distilled water. After 3-4 days, take off top and give light – I give 12 hrs. Do not spray the plants – you know the drill the lights will burn them. To keep soil wet (unlike MJ) water the soil. I just use a beaker to put some water in at the corners and each side. You don’t want it sopping wet, but more than moist. On day 7-10, harvest the greens. Use scissors to cut them at the soil line. They are delicate. Be kind. Put them in a colander and rinse them in cold water. Allow them to dry on paper towels and then enjoy. If you want to put them in the fridge, they need to be totally dry. They will only hold in the fridge about two days. So, no overplanting so you’re sure you can consume them is important.

This is the guy I learned the most from: https://www.trueleafmarket.com/collections/microgreens-kits-and-supplies

Phew
