I’ve grown I♥️gm, Fast Buds and Growers Choice seeds with great success.
A friend raved about Mephisto Genetics, so I bought some seeds. Soaked a couple in water overnight, then placed them in a wet paper towel and ziplock bag. Both sprouted perfect tap roots within 36 hours.
Planted in separate 10 gallon soft pots, it great soil. Put them in a place of honor in my yard. Lots of filtered sunlight, light breeze.
They both grew about 2", stalled. Nothing for 10 days, then they collapsed.
Ok, start 2 more. Same protocol, water, paper towels. Both sprout perfect tap roots. In 10 gallon soft pots, but this time in my tent. Under a 600w MH light, dialed back 50%.
The both sprouted, grew about an inch, and stalled. But they’re still nice and green.
What going on? Never had this happen before. Usually autos grow crazy fast.

Hey @Beard-O good day to ya. I’m in the middle, hopefully the end, of a run of bad luck. Seeds and sprouts both. Although maybe different reasons. Worth discussing. This happens avg twice a year where nothing works for two or three tries in a row. Another time following water works/repairs/ flushing hydrants or whatever them utility guys do. So far just a hunch.
But what youre describing sounds like the root takes off til it hits something it doesnt like. I mean if it were temps and air or other things youd pick it up. And you know watering 'cuz you’ve grown lots. I dunno man just speculating

Do you know how strong the ppfd is? Running a metal halide dimmed to 50% will shorten life of bulb so you know. Not the same as led.

The times that I have had this problem it was either temperature or watering too much / not enough. What type of soil are you using?

I’ve been using MH for years, so I’m real familiar with it. I’m not overly concerned about the bulb, because Ive got a bunch of them.
Usually I start my plants on 600w, until they’re ready for LST. Then I switch bulbs to a 1000w MH for the remainder of veg, and 1000w HPS until harvest.

1000w to only veg sounds crazy to me. But hey if it works for you.

Just an idea but have you checked your pH?
Try this digging a hole in the middle of the happy frog the size of a small cup .put a neutral soil in there to start the seedling buy time it hits they happy frog it will be big enough to start uptaking the nutrients.
Lumpy soil, old product sat on shelf too long, rain and damaged packaging, hey just throwin it at the wall man. Did ya pick it up at an outdoor garden center. I believe in your methods growmie so questioning the product.
