@Gringrow. Bury them up to just below the leaves and maybe lower ur light a lil bit. Just not too close. Still pretty young for 12 in. Check with your hand held over top of them and if it’s too hot after a min on your hand then raise the light a bit. Prob 18 - 24 in for first little bit till they harden to the light. Peace. :v:

@Oldguy Ya they are already sitting 12" from tops. I can hold my hand an inch above the plants with no burn. Will tranplant up to leaves as usual but wondering will an 800w further away, or fluorescents right on top prevent that first week slight stretch?!?!

Fluorescent on top of them has worked well for me over the years. I still end up with a bit of stretch but not as much as some. About a couple in. I’m still using T-12,s in mine so the extra warmth is helpful too.@Gringrow. :v:

Ya I am looking into T5s but making due with what equipment I already have. 400W always seemed to work quite wll. Tallest guy at 10 days is like 4 inch max. So not terrible. Second leaves are right on schedule.

Kool man. I’ve got the ballasts and bulbs to switch over to t-8s with 6500 K but that’s for my next one. Room is in transition after last grow.:grin:
Peace for now. Workin now. Btw. Welcome to the forum. Happy growing. :v:

Hey guys, i was just thinking about this and would like your input. How much time to go from putting seeds in water and having tail? 2 to 7 days? and how long from the little one inch pots to when you get to the part where your picture is and is time to transfer to 6 bigger pot? another ten to 14 days? can i use two 4 ft florescent bulbs in fixture to get to this part where you are at. if i can get three weeks out of this i can buy the “big” fixture LOL and would really help in my timing and budget.

I says yes ride it out I use to use lamps upside down with flood lamps florescent are good for starting

@monkman. U r right on 2-7 days for tails. And correct on 2 or so weeks to that stage for transplant. My fixture was 4 bulb but a 2 lamp should work. They don’t need a lot of light to get to this point. Peace. :v:

I was 24-48 hr for seed germination on 16 seeds %100 success rate. Planted in 4 inch pots and all 16 poked through the soil within 2 days. After roughly 11 days all plants were transplanted into 6inch pots where they are now 2 weeks and a couple days old working on growing out the second set of fan leaves now.

Great job @Gringrow. i have just started my germ for 5 seeds, 3 popped in glass water in a day and half planted in peat pellet this afternoon put one in that hadn’t popped but tried it anyway. one seed didn’t sink so that one is a dud, i threw another in so i could choose between 5 plants to pick 4 i’m going to grow.
