Mars Hydro TS1000 Lighting Questions

What’s happening y’all! I’m trying to drop the temp in garage 2’ x 4’ grow closet as we’re headed into a southern cali heat wave. The closet averages 78 with lights on and 74 at night. I’m in a 18/6 schedule with light off from noon to 6pm. Intake/out take fans installed and are game changers. Humidifier with thermostat was also a game changer. There’s one Xhale bag hanging and contemplating adding a second. There’s two oscillating fans on opposite ends of the closet. Currently with outside temps being 95 degrees the closet been at 83-84 degrees with the lights on. The light is 24” away and my plants are almost 30 days in with the light at 100%.

So here’s my two questions:

  1. If I lower the light to say 12” can I back the lights down to 50-75%?

  2. I have a 4” AC infinity muffin fan that I want to blow on the fan. Should the fan be positioned so that it blows air onto the fan or set up to blow away?

I figure if I can survive the next two weeks it’s easy sledding in southern cali. Thanks I’m advance!

this will produce less heat … but it also shrinks your light area that it covers if that matters

:point_up_2: not bad and the very top of the temp range. Lowering the light and intensity will affect equal canopy coverage. I would leave it if your DLI/PPFD are set :love_you_gesture:

How many of those lights are you running as one is insufficient to flower out one plant.

Look up ‘Gas Lantern’ as that might provide lower temps while still maintaining veg light schedule.

This is a complete waste of time and effort. There simply is no way you can derive any benefit from the small amount of CO2 generated with the light you are running. CO2 is only effective under HIGH PPF and a sealed, climate-controlled environment.

I flowered this plant under a single ts1000.

What was the yield?

Oz, maybe oz and a half. Nothing huge by any means.

I’m sure that light will flower a plant but yields would be low.

Agreed. Id like to give a go in the same small 2.3x2.3 with my fc3000, I think that would make for a much better single plant grow.

I think you can get away with 150 watts of gucci light to get dense flower: I have a couple of QB135’s but only use for veg.

On my last grow I netted 2.94 dry ounces of Girl Scout Extreme with the same light. Cured for 30 days and started taking rips last week. I’m pretty happy with GSC and hoping that on the next run the flowers will be tighter as I’ve got a better handle on conditions.

Up the light and you’ll more than double your yield. I just weighed the first of 4 plants (Tropicana Punch) under 200 watts of gucci lights (each) and pulled 9.95 oz. from it. And it’s not the largest one.

Your tent is in the garage is it possible to to hook up the intake air from inside the the house assuming it is air conditioned

84 is totally fine. When I fire up the whole flower tent i sit on 82-84 venting outside. That is 2 550r and 240w dual 288 qboards. If i run 3 550r i go to 85-90 at times mid summer. I adjust watering and keep her venting and soldier on.

Back in the day when I lived in SoCal and I had garage closet or enclosure grows running far hotter light tech. I would exhaust into the attic with DIY carbon trays and a blower motor out of a 1.5 ton AC air handler mounted to the ceiling on the low speed setting. Then pull my intake air off the garage floor for the coolest air and when it got really hot I would wet the concrete floor down. Set the 18/6 light cycle to come on at 2pm and off at 8pm avoiding lights on during the hottest part of the day.

I am on my 2nd grow with Mars lighting. I just transplanted 2 clones, what pct should I set light? I have it set about 20 inches from plants. They are in veg

Welcome to the forum. This video should help with that.

That is always the case. You would get alot different results with a light that has samsung lm301b/h diodes and a meanwell Driver.

Which light are you using? I have both a MH t1000 and an MH fc3000.
