Thought I would give you guys an update on my progress. I am 4.5 weeks in from flipping the lights. The tallest mains are right at 30". I was shooting for a final height of 36" so I don’t know if I will hit that or not. But they are looking fabulous!
You should be able to get a quarter pound per plant at that height. They’re lookin good definitely healthy. Make sure you keep good airflow in there and watch your humidity and they’ll be good
Hey @Arrow, @Turbonelson and @MeEasy. I received an adapter for my camera so thought i would share some trichomes. I am battling some leaves dying on the top of one plant and the other two are showing some symptoms. Still working to get that hashed out.
That’s some good pictures. Looks like you’re getting . I got some updated photos of my CBD plant I mainlined on my grow journal if you want to check it out.
I would love to check it out, how do i get to your grow journal?
I don’t know how to send you a link, but I’ll tag you
Nice close ups…take some of the calyxes in the middle of the plant…that will give you an idea of how far you are to harvest…
Hi all… I need some coaching on my grow, things went a little sideways and I am not sure I know the cause. But here is what happened:
December 9th: I noticed on one the plant the tips of some leaves where a little brown and curling upward, everything else look good.
December 10th: things were worse, the dying was spreading to other parts of the leaves.
After seeing this I immediately did a flush. I ran 5 gallons of just water with a PH of 6.5 through them. I probably sucked out 3.5 gallons of runoff out.
I was thinking nutrient burn. On December 8th, the day before i noticed the tips looking bad I gave them their first feeding of Big Bloom. I can’t say for sure but I may have used 3 tbs instead of 3 tsp per gallon of water when i mixed it. My wife was in the hospital during that time some my brain was a little whacked out. After 4 full days of drying out I gave them a feeding of Big Bloom mixed correctly, but half strength… Cal-Mag and Molasses. Mixed to 6.5 PH. (use two inexpensive PH meters and rechecked the calibration)
December 15th: Things continue to decline
December 16th: Still not much improvement, I have been pruning off dead leaves. At this time I noticed that the leaves really only dying on the very tops of the plants. Deeper down they where nice and green but really small leaves. My tallest plant also had taco leaves up top and turning a lighter shade of green. At this point I started looking at my lights. They were 18" above the tallest parts. I have (3) Growstar UFOs 300 watt equivalent lights. My little light sensor showed a LUX value of 38,000. I raised the lights 6" to about 24" above and that dropped my LUX to 35,000.
December 18: Things are about the same. The flower look healthy but I haven’t noticed much growth to them. This picture was taken the start of week 6th since I flipped the light schedule.
What do you all think?

@AxisCat it looks like you burned the girls with your lights, remember damaged leaves won’t rejuvenate once they are damaged. Cutting off the damage will allow light to get to other leaves lower on your plants but just cut the damage not the entire leaf. I’m not familiar with your lights but they should be ok at or above 18 inches… again should be… check the manufacturer recommended distances is best because lights are so different from each other. It’s hard to see colors in your pics because of your lights but I don’t think it’s a nute or ph problem but here’s a couple links that you can check out and save for future reference… good luck
Since I’m here I’ll showoff my current grow that I cut up yesterday and started their manifolds giving each of them 8 tops which has been averaging a quarter pound per plant for me. This grow is a bit different for me though. I have come out of the closet and moved into a new 4x4 tent and added a light.

AND UP CLOSE
Now that is some nice looking work there @MeEasy !!!
I am going to file this kinda of stuff away for my next grow.
@AxisCat hey there, I was over at your other post and came over here because I knew you had left pictures over here. I want to help you out but I think my ignorance is showing.
After you think you over fed did you try to flush good?
Did you check the ph of the water coming out of the bottom when you flushed? Or after you fed?
What is the temperature inside your tent? And at the canopy?
Your lights overlap but I don’t know how that works.
Do you know if there is a par map of those lights?
Does it seem like the plants are burnt more in the middle where they overlap?
Do the trichomes on top look like they burst open and dark?
That’s all I can think of asking you to maybe narrow down the problem. One more thing that could help is if you could post a couple pics in natural light.
@MeEasy -
I appreciate all the help i can get. I have to get on to work but i will post some more later today.
Just a couple of quick observations and like you suggested a few days ago I am leaning towards too much light. Just because of the fact that only the very upper leaves got burnt… going 6" down into the canopy and the leaves are nice and green.
I did a little more research on my lighting setup and found this online calculator:
https://learnsativa.org/lux-to-par-calculator/
Using it as a guide i could have been running around 976.18 ppfd/umol/s/m2 with my lights at 18" and my LUX sensor measuring 38,000 off center of the lights.
As you know my tent is small 25" diameter which is about 3.14 square feet. My lights have a plug load of about 115 watts x 3 so that is over 100 watts per square foot.
Just looked at the clock and gotta get heading to work.
Thanks again for you help

Sounds like you have it figured out, you just have to get the answers in order to fix it. I think you are closer to the answers than I am hope you get back on track. Stay in touch I’d like to see your girls finish
I wouldn’t be so sure about me figuring it out. I am still struggling with things. Sorry to flood you with pictures, but maybe this will help you to help me… These are taken with my flash on my camera so it is very close to daylight conditions. They are exactly 40 days old from the time i flipped the lights
I’m seeing some new green growth up on top so whatever you are doing is helping em. Do you have a lux meter? I have one of those three in one meters actually I have two of them one actually registers when I put it under my lights the other one doesn’t even move. It is surprisingly accurate with what the manufacturer par says it should be. I wouldn’t use it for a scientific test but I don’t do them anyway lol. They’re like 10 bucks i think and it would get you closer than you are now to knowing what is happening under your lights
I found this on light burn, don’t know if there’s anything in it you haven’t already seen
Here’s the meter that I got the one that actually works the other one I have is the same thing but different brand

That was a great read on light burn, thanks for the link… after looking at other examples of light burn my girls show some of the exact same symptoms. Mostly the bleaching on the top but deeper down things are nice and green.
I do have one of those 3 in 1 sensors but have only been using it for moisture levels. I use one of those programmable logic chips to read my light/temp/humidity sensors and also control the lights, heater and humidifier.
This LUX sensor should be accurate but i might look at checking it against a know value. I am reading about 35,000 LUX at the top of the canopy.
I can get another inch up from my lights without too much trouble, but raising them anymore than that and i have to get creative.
Here is my dashboard to the control package, it is lights off at this time:
Yeah like I said before you are way ahead of me with all this technology stuff 4sure I’ve only read about all this fancy shit lol I didn’t know that it was that advanced I’ve never seen a screen with all that info in one place. I would like to check out the one that you have in the picture if you don’t mind sharing the name of it with me. I’ve only thought about going to a system like that.
The manufacturer of this unit doesn’t give you target levels for the light intensity and all the other meter readings for that matter. I can remember reading about all the target lux and par levels when I was setting up my original grow but I don’t remember the exact numbers. It’s been awhile ago
The fancy gizmos are cool and all but they are no substitute for good ole experience and common since.
There really isn’t much to look at, this is pretty much of all of it:
It is all entirely custom and unique to my particular application as you can tell from all the jumper wires and stuff. These little boards run custom code that you write so they can do some amazing things. Some company may offer an off the shelf solution but I enjoy the DIY aspect of things. If you are interested in this kind of thing i would start here:
