Lux meter help and more…

Hi and thank you in advance.

I’m growing my first plant in an indoor grow tent (second ever plant; first is outdoor currently in flower). I’m trying to dial in my light for optimization, but more importantly, the tiniest leaves are taco’ing and a bit limp and I want to solve be it light intensity or other.

I’m using a $39 light meter that gives me a lux reading, with a small x10 beneath it. I’m guessing I take the reading and multiply by 10? The reading is ~2550 which is really low for veg (current state), unless I multiply by 10 of course. If I move the meter closer to the light, the reading drops, but the range changes to x100 beneath it. So I’m guessing my assumptions are correct in multiplying the reading, but there is little info explaining how to calculate in instruction sheet.

Would this be the cause for my leaf condition, Needing more light?

Light - 150w VIVOSUN SE in veg mode @ 80% intensity (their rec) set about 22.5” above canopy.
I recently did a flush, and hasn’t been fed in over a week so maybe it’s hungry (though wouldn’t I see signs of that in other leaves, too)?
Temp has been stable around 82* (heat wave; lower outdoor temps in couple days) and humidity 55-58%.
Strain is grandaddy purp in fabric pot with promix soil using jacks nutrients.

And while here, growing in tent, soil dries out slower than outdoors obviously, but is plant drawing nutes as long as soil is moist? I don’t want to overwater but want to make sure it’s getting enough food for healthy growth.

Some pics included. if I left out any helpful info, happy to follow up.

I don’t think is bad enough to cause leaf problems. I put your numbers in other companies’ calculators after looking up your hardware. Btw my meter also says x10lux.
Your probably getting between 300 and 400 ppfd. DLI in the 20’s with an 18hr day.
Could use more light. 30000 to 35000 L should be good with your light’s spectrum.

Thanks for reply.

am I correct to multiply by 10 for lux so in pic it would be 22,460? Is that what you used to plug in for ppfd?

Do the leaves look to you like they need attention?

Yep x10 you got it. First I checked your spectrum then found the closest thing on HLG’s site’s calculator then took that number to waveformlighting’s calculator and assumed 18hrs.

Hard to say about the tops. Plants look healthy.
I notice in early flower new growth is so bushy it doesnt widen as fast and looks a bit stringy, mine have. So far thats how it looks to me. If they start twisting and deformed or yellow its a problem.

Like this, here are abnormal tips and tops

I have that same meter and it is a multiply by ten. This is what I use to gauge my lux and my plants are praying.
