I want to be able to get better yields. I understand this involves LST and “topping” or “lollipop”. When should someone start LST? I’m trying to learn all of this in my first grow. Also still seems too small to do any LST.

Search for Bill Ward on youtube, got a ton of videos demonstrating and talking about this subject. Also, search 420 scene or Dude Grows Channel. Tons of hiw toos about this.

I was seeing when I needed to top. Because did watch a few videos. Instead of low stress training I decided to just top. I know the node in the middle saw people cutting this when it was a little bit bigger than what I have in its current state

Dont know about topping photos. If it was an auto id say wait till the 5th node.

Since this is your first attempt, I would suggest to you that you should focus your attention on having a harvest not the weight of that harvest. Youll stress yourself out and doing a whole lot of stuff you dont quite understand yet and it increases the chances of failure.

You would top or fim at 5th node✌️
I wouldnt do anything yet with ur plant its still to small wait until its taller for lst training and topping and lollipopping .To be honest i wouldnt top ur plant i would fim ur plant when its gets bigger fimming gives ur plant the opportunity to produce up to 6 new branches with one fimming if you fim ur plant you want to fim all branches and top i do this twice to my plants they get alot of tops and alot of branches and fimming is less stressful for ur plants and lollipopping u will do just before it goes into flowering stage

I’m working with 2x2x4 room. Will topping be too much for this?

No.
With a photo you just need to flip your light when the plant is half the size you want it to be. The stretch can get tall and if your not careful you will not be able to maintain the required distance for your lights to work right. Too close and it will burn your plant. You can train it for as long as you want. Best part about photos if you ask me.

1 thing to consider. Fimming a lot gets weight. Smaller flowers. I will go crazy with fim on a big medical photo. Looking for weight for edibles. 1 fim or a top will have less tops but will grow large flowers. Also unless vigilant a very thick super fimmed plant in a tent can develop mold/airflow issues. Been there. Since first round and wanna do some adjusting i would either top or fim once and then just reach the finish line. Less is TRULY more first couple of cycles. Just my thoughts.

I’ll just wait and let her just grow as is. I’ll definitely try it on my next grow cycle though.

The best way to ensure productive grows is to focus on the basics (good soil if using soil, proper watering, a good cannabis fertilizer product, good lighting, proper pH and PPM, temperature, humidity, airflow, and so on.)
LST for the sake of LST can harm yields.

I would try fimmimg. It’s easy, and at worst it will get you two new tops. I did it for the first time on this auto. The first pic is a week after I did it, then a week after that, and a week ago. When the new limbs grow out, you just tie them over. It’s very easy.

As other have stated, wait for the 5th node and top it there.
I waited on this one until the 7th node so I had some extra growth.
You gotta try the first time at some point so might as well do it on this grow. Topping is easy and you can see what happens when you top and how she grows after the rebound. Keep us posted. I will chime in when I can add to or answer any of your questions.

I’m on my 7th grow since Aug. of ‘21 and one thing that I have learned is to not follow the manufacturer specs on adding nutes, it will have your ppm’s of the chart every time. You can always add more, you can adjust up but you can’t adjust down, unless you start all over again with your feedwater.

I’m doing my first tent grow in a 2x2x4 area that I’m doing a LST and SOG. Im doing a Bruce Banner Photo in a 5gallon pot with Mother Earth CocoPeat. It was topped super early after cloneing from 3 mothers that harvested from greenhouse.
I ended up doing a homemade net after a week into flower at about the half way mark. I’ve topped photos at the 5th node.
I have a Blue dream that ive topped twice. First time topped late at the 10th node and then topped at the 5th node. Growing in a 15gallon tote with Mother Earth Ground Swell with GH maxigro/CALiMag.

I still got a little ways to go it look like. I’m assuming I’m on the first or second node at this point.
Each new branch not counting the coty’s is a node. It appears you have 3 true nodes there. Let 2 more pop out and then you cut it at the center vert but leave the 2 side shoots. Does that make sense? The 2 side shoots will become your 2 new Apexes.

Nailed it. Nice clean cut and some put stuff on the cut. I use honey myself. Just a dab’ll do ya.
