There are a few (old) threads here about low THC, but now that ILGM is selling a few strains that are in the < 10% range, it seems time to kick off another civil discussion.
I long for those awesome 1980’s landrace strains with low THC and wonderful terps. And yes, I know that the industry has gone in the opposite direction, but I see signs / recognition that there are others like me who would buy these kinds of seeds! Maybe it’s just a false hope, but is it too late? Can we bring back the good ol’ weed?

Since I grow autos, my opinion holds less weight, though I also prefer lower-THC strains.

They are out there for lower THC %, as far as terps they may be harder to find and yes I miss the older smoke also, 70’s - 80’s.

I would just add my opinion on this… It seems that everyone is looking for the fastest, strongest, newest, whiz-bang thing. And there is nothing wrong with pushing the limits to see how far we can go and what we can do, it’s us, it’s human nature. We always try to build faster cars. I remember having my mind absolutely blown 
when dragsters and funny cars started breaking 7 seconds in the 1/4 mile. But people push and innovate and now we are in the 3-second range today. It’s going to happen. But I do completely agree with you @Alien_Shore , there is something to be said about the way that it was in the old school days. I have been (as a rider, not the driver) in a Tesla Plaid at the dragstrip and it was freaking scary fast. But it still didn’t have that same visceral feeling of being in a '66 Mustang Fastback 2+2 with the noise, the smell, the EXPERIENCE of feeling the 1/4 mile go past at a 12-13 second run. Tesla times kicked that ass a long time ago. But I too am ok with instead of taking 2 hits off of a joint of 32% THC weed that just knocks you out, of smoking a half (or full) joint of 10-12% weed to get that same high effect. And again, the EXPERIENCE of the terpenes that made that strain so notable. Original Maui-Wowie, original Skunk from Mendocino, Panama Red, Acapulco Gold, Opiated Thai Stick (or even non-opiated), Afghani Kush from Afghan. When you smoked it you could distinctly smell, taste, and feel the very different strains, and even though you were high, each one seemed like it had a unique experience to it. Maybe I’m looking at this through my pair of nostalgia glasses, but that is exactly how I remember it. You were lucky if your hook-up had more than 1 type for sale at a time, and you would try to get a little of each. Buy a bag of the Mexican Dirt Weed for your day to day pleasure, get a little of the Skunk for only you and your girl or best of friends, and then nobody but you got to smoke the Hawaiian or the Opiated Thai Stick. Because you know, stuff was pricey and super special. So unless you were trying to impress one of the cheerleader girls who would guarantee you a date if you shared, or a bud brother had done you a super-solid on something so you owed him, that stuff was not for public consumption. Long story short, YES, I would buy and grow a landrace, and smoke a whole joint if I had to, for the experience and the differentiation of all the hybrids today. I might even build another Mustang and try to hit up Cheerleader Shari again…

I’m totally down for the landraces as I feel there was more variety to the type of high back in the day. For me, all the cross breeding and trying to breed the newest big thing has resulted in the bulk of the weeds looking the same and providing almost the same high. If the public wants dense pretty buds a true landrace Thai is a long way from that not to mention the general aversion to high flying anxiety inducing strains like the old school sativas. I miss the bad a$$ upbeat psychedelic sativas, long may they burn!

Most of the stuff nowadays gives me anxiety and paranoia. I am trying Afghani out for the first time in a while. Next year I will be growing a string called euphoria . 9% THC 10% CBD I’m hoping that helps me out a little bit. I will grow some stronger stuff to give away but I will also be going with a straight CBD hoping this doesn’t give me paranoia and anxiety I still enjoy smoking. I just do not want the paranoia anxiety and stress the weed gives me nowadays. Maybe I’m just too old and can’t do it anymore I don’t know I’m hoping CBD really fixes that problem. It all started when I started smoking the dispensary weed I swear there is something up with that s***. I won’t touch it at all anymore.

The CBD is mellow and can be used to cut down the noia from the dispo cannabis. It’s the antagonist to THC and will lower the effects that you’re experiencing.

I’m hoping that is the case… I grew something I bought from here that was pretty reasonable. Might have been CBD Kush seems like it was around 5 to 7% THC and somewhere around 10 to 15% CBD.

I really am encouraged that more of us want to see “less POW, more WOW” in their smoke. I’m sure not everyone feels that way, but also I acknowledged that there are a dwindling number of us who were smoking back in the 70’s or 80’s who remember what it was like before we brought the full force of genetic engineering to bear on growing. I bought Ed Rosenthal’s book back in the day and grew some decent stuff, but the grow tech today is so much better… Just wishing I could find some of those awesome OG Hawaiian (or fill in the blank) seeds now.

ep smoking brickweed and brown weed… Some decent commercial was always nice and relaxing. Getting your hands on the green was a treat but I remember always getting way too high . Don’t feel alone lol there are many people I talk to that Express the same feelings we have. Matter of fact with the dabs the carts and all that other s*** they have changed marijuana into a different drug in my opinion. Instead of just smoking a j and relaxing it’s like you’re doing heroin or another huge drug anyways enjoy. But I am going to say something some of those old strains I still think are better than what they have bread today. Everything is cross strained with everything . I just want to be able to sit down and relax after smoking not have a mental battle for my sanity.
