Looking to upgrade my current light

Hey guys been lurking here for a couple months now and need some advice on a light. Currently I’m looking at the HLG 2 3000k v2 QB288 combo with double heat sinks to start my build. I’m thinking the HLG-240h is the appropriate driver for this set up but need to make sure before I order the driver which will be in a couple weeks. I’m currently in a 20” by 36” by 60” tent lit by a phlizon 1200w blurple light because I didn’t know any better. Currently I have a ILGM Blackberry Kush and Durban poison vegging in the tent right now. I know it will be very cramped in the tent but that is all the room I have available at this time. My last grow I only had one female cookies kush bag seed which turned out okay but I’m looking for denser nugs this time around and more than the 2 ounces I got last time in harvest. The two QB288 in 3k should be enough for my tent size for veg and flower correct?

Should work great - I have the 260 xl 288s in my 2x4 and works wonders. To help with density you’ll wanna manage temps as you finish flower and keep up that hard core training you have going there. Looks great btw. I scrogged last round and noticed a huge increase in overall density - grade b buds were increased tremendously and ran temps around 68-73 for final 2-3 weeks so color really popped. I think you’re on the right track

Here’s the driver for the 260 xl

Standard 260 kit would be more than enough. The r-spec is latest board, but you could go with 3000k or 3500k too if you want. For two 288 boards meanwell hlg-240h-c2100a is the proper driver.

@dbrn32, @Sirsmokesalot, thanks a lot for the advice I thought I needed the HLG240h-2100 but was unsure. is the kit from HLG with 2Qb288’s a good deal with the heat sink package at $192?

It’s a fair price. Keep in mind you will have to purchase wiring, cord, and connectors in addition to driver. Will probably still be cheaper than the full kit.

@dbrn32 I can source the wagos, cords and fasteners from work so just need the driver and QB’s. Thanks for all your help I will start this build in the coming weeks so if I can I would like to hit you up to check over my wires before plugging it in.

That will be an awsome light I got 3 of them in one room. I got a plant over 6 ft in there and I flowered her at like 2 maybe less

@Killadruid I wish I had more room I’m hoping soon for a different grow situation but it fills my needs so I’m happy now. I’m just a small closet grow.

@OU812 where are you finding that deal I want in on that!! I’m running a 3 board and want to finish off and banish the blurples

@dbrn32 @Killadruid I have received my quantum board heat sink and driver (ended up going with a 260 rspec). I need some help with electrical. I’m a little unsure as to which black red gauge wire I need to connect to the boards and was wondering if you had a simple wiring schematic I could follow just to make sure I don’t screw this thing up

@dbrn32 the thing I’m asking more that I didn’t see in this video (I did smoke before attempting this) is the 110v side. Correct me if I’m wrong but green wire from my cord goes to grn/yell on the driver black from the cord goes to brown on the driver and white on cord goes to blue on the driver. Also sorry to be a bother I’m on the phlizon 1200w blurple right now should I start the new 260 Rspec on 100% power or dim it? The first day of flower/ pistils was October 2nd. Thanks for all your help!!

@Killadruid thank you sir that is what I needed!!! Do you have an opinion on the dimming? Should I dim the light at first they are 20 days into flower. Also what distance is good to start?

@dbrn32 @Killadruid thank you both so much I got the light all wired up and it turned on and no breakers were hurt in the process! Now should I run it wide open or ease into it?
