Hello! Seems like a great community you all have here as a resource. I won’t be long but as the title says finally took the leap to try growing. I had all kinds of issues with germination, that through reading here I’ve learned how to fix! All that said I lost a my first two seedlings I believe by underwatering and giving nutrients too fast.
Here is my second go. I think these are looking better. I attached both plants I have going the issue should be quite obvious I guess. But these are the exact same strain (Forum Stomper) in the same conditions and one has the issues you see in the photos. Any help is super appreciated. Thanks in advance
Seeds are not exact copies like clones. Each has its own pheno that expresses various degrees of traits from the parents. Not all children look and act alike.

It’s really not. I’ve seen so many weird and wonky starts and they turn out fine. It may have moisture issues but sometimes that’s just how they grow in that first set. Could be moisture related, yes, but I don’t know your watering practices. Stick a finger in it. Do you feel moisture down to the first knuckle at least?
Those look great. Now is the " dont overwater" stage. Personally I would just drop a clear solo cup over them for a week. Water the cup. Force roots to find water while absorbing from the moist air.

Welcome to the forum. Patience will be the key at this stage. You may go close to a week with out seeing a lot of change while the roots grow out. Once they take off. Things will happen faster. They are looking good
Thanks so much for this!!! Good to know it’s been quite interesting your comment earlier about them being like children is happening in front of me. One is absolutely perfect (I Think) and the other really doesn’t have issues than it grows its new leaves a little wonky one side but otherwise its keeping up just fine. Watering seems to be going great! Using the knuckle method and being very gentle these first two weeks. I did not premoisten soil because I used ammendments in it, I’m getting worried about the hydrophobic issue but that bridge we will cross when we have to.
So I went with some advice I had gotten before finding this community, hopefully I wasn’t led to astray. I went with Happy Frog OF/20-30% perlite mix and then mixed in what I was recommended for dosage on Gaia Green All Purpose and Power Bloom as I added layers of soil and amended it in until the top layer to avoid early exposure to the tap root.
I’m very glad you asked because I have a follow up. After doing that I’m going to now start voodoo juice and cal mag. Unless you think that might be too much. I’m having a hell of a time getting ph right on soil and water I think the meter I got was too cheap for water but Im using tap currently it was reading a little below 6 but unsure if accurate. Now since I pre amended the soil, I def should not be feeding liquid nutes at any point correct?
I’m not sure. Autos or photo? How much 4-4-4 was used? You added that to the HF & OF mix, so the soil is quite rich. Do you plan to use calmag for the Ca & Mg inputs?

I went 75% 2-8-4 and 25%4-4-4 premixed as the advice I got stated. These are Autos unfortunately I feel like I learned the lesson that the easy way isn’t always as easy or worth it.
As far as the calmag… Good question I am unsure of what even Ca & Mg inputs mean sadly. I had read it was vital and my last 2 plants had very light and airy basically useless nugs so I thought that may be the difference as I had used liquid fertilizer but still the sad nugs and that was the one thing I hadn’t changed.
The math works out to be 2.5-7-4 for nutrition added. Plus the value of the FF soils should round the N supply up. That’s a pretty good auto start.
I want sure how far into the organics path you were going. Calmag would suit your experience level. In organics, you have (Ca) calcium amends and you have (Mg) magnesium ones. Calmag is just the chemical salts version since they need balanced uptakes.
Density is more related to light energy, photons. The harder you push the lights the more they need the calmag to make use of that energy. Calcium is needed for cell wall integrity, it works in conjunction with (K) potassium and magnesium. Magnesium is at the heart of the chlorophyll molecule and enhances the uptake of (P) phosphorus. It’s the molecule partly responsible for the green, makeup of the plants. Without Ca & Mg you can’t uptake the NPK.
I know I’ve said it but you my friend are invaluable. All of these wonderful lessons from such great experience. You have me pointed in the right direction on what to study and now I have some homework.
In direct response to your last word of advice and the relation to light energy… They were run 24/0 likely from too far away with far too few watts and certainly weren’t getting any calcium besides the tap water or what would be in the FF scheduled nutes.
