Have three plants going indoor - critical, white widow, and shogun. Critical and white widow are cruising, but shogun is lagging and bright green, almost neon. Bottom leaves yellow. pH was high but I’ve adjusted. Why with similar conditions is one so stunted? I just added veg nutes at very low concentrate .25g/gallon (rec is 1-2g). Thoughts?

The PH is most likely the issue and could have been overwatering at some point. I wouldn’t be feeding nutrients at this stage with the medium having living soil and FFOF combo. Have you watered to run off and checked the PPMs and PH? This will let you know the nutrients still available in the soil as well as the PH. Target a PH of 6.5 going in and coming out and and feed when the PPMs in the run off are below 900 and a target feed and run off of 900-1000
Thanks everyone, especially for the welcome. I’m sure I’ll be here for the next 6 months at the least! I’ll be switching to 5 gallon fabric pots when moving outdoors end of month, early next month. When is ideal for VA?
I believe there was overwatering in the beginning. That might have been one of the main differences between the three plants. I was letting the peat pods get too wet thinking the water was evaporating when really it was soaking it up. Dumb, I know.
pH was high until last week. I got a pH probe and it was over 7+. About to buy an Apera ph20 meter. What should I get to measure PPMs?
The nutes I added were really low but noted about not adding with living soil. I’d flush it out but I feel I’d be overwatering right now.
What strain: issue is Shogun
Method: Nature’s Living Soil + FFOF
Vessels: 1 gallon fabric pots going to 5 gallon
PH: was 7+ now 6-6.5 with probe
PPM/TDS or EC: No idea
Indoor but will go Outdoor soon

So I bought the Apera ph20 meter and a ppm meter. my tap water is 6.5 ph and the ppms are 101. Next time I water I need to make sure they’re above 900? Basically, picking up a ton of nutes from the soil?
They all look healthy’ish to me, it’s just that this one appears to be the runt of the litter. If it was on its own, I’d think it was normal. It’s like papa bear, mama bear, and baby bear.
Welcome aboard! There are a lot of things that can be going on, and the above comments will def help you out…but it makes me think that if all other things are equal and the other plants are doing well with the same treatment, and watering without saturation, and letting drain extra out but not go dry, it might be genetics contributing as well. I just grew a Cali MD that was absolutely chartreuse in a dark forest of green and stuck out like a sore thumb in the grow room, but is looking to be absolute solid bud when it’s cured.
I did a quick perusal online and a few growers commented on how much nutes it took for this strain. It is early stages though, and you have a good soil for nutes…shouldnt have to add anything until flowering, quite honestly. I really don’t sweat too much until the transition to flower. I dont do a lot of measurements so am no help to you there, but as it goes along, we will be here to give guidance. Good luck!!
Yeah they’ve been getting the same treatment, except when I gave her a little more nutes after realizing she was lagging. Also genetics that she’s small? If so that’ll make me less concerned.
Nice! If that medium is preamended with nutrients and you’re only using water now, catch a sample and test the PH and PPMs of the run off. I target my input and run off at 900-1000 and for soil a PH of 6.5. I would start feeding once that run off is below 900
Honestly i would hit it with more nitrogen. It looks classic nitrogen deficient. Some plant want more nitrogen than others. Almsot positive this plant is hungry for more nitrogen
Just used the runoff from the little plant for mama plant and got 5.2 ph / 1080 ppm. Did a little extra tap to correct a bit. Used tap only for the big plant and got 6.5 ph / 402 ppm. It’s the one kicking butt.
Let me see if I can help…seems you may be a little confused or could be me . Was round 1 and 2 the same plants?
The PH should have been adjusted before feeding. Always check and adjust the PH after mixing nutrients.
You shouldn’t feed the run off, it contains the expelled salts from the root zone so reintroducing this can add back those salts and tank the PH in the medium.
Soil likes a wet to dry cycle and depending on the vessel size and drainage that can be 3-5 days. If you’re in amended soil, it’ll typically feed the plant for the 1st-6th week with PHd water only and around week 3 of veg start watering to run off and check the PPMs and PH and start feeding when that’s 900 or below. I consistently feed at 900-1000 PPms and to liberal run off
