Lights just for seedlings?

Hi all, i plan on having an area for seedlings, an area for veg and a tent for flowering.

I have a ton of T12 grow bulbs but I’m not sure if they will work for seedlings. (Pic)
Would they work?

I was also looking at these lights on Amazon for seedlings if the T12s aren’t good enough.

Thoughts?

The seedlings would be in 3gal bags in this set up. (Pic)

I picked up a couple of these off of Amazon as a recommendation from a friend and they’re doing an awesome job so far. They’re dimmable and they don’t get very hot.

Those are perfect for the seedling period. I use a T5 or an THO 44 watt often. I transplant at day 15 from solo cups to the final pot. With fluorescent fixtures you can hang the light a lot lower to the top of the plant. I typically set them around 6” above the seedlings. :love_you_gesture:

Ty for the reply!

Should i just use the T12 i have or buy the Barrina? Maybe 2 of the T12s per shelf?

I sow them directly into the 3 gal bags because they are autos (except 2 mystery ones I believe are photo)

I would use what you have to start them. Does not take a lot at that stage.

Stick with the T12, what’s the wattage on those? Just remember these or the Barrina will only get you through a few weeks and autos can start flowering as soon as 21 days above ground. Once flower starts you’ll need a full spectrum light and would suggest spending a few bucks on a quality fixture like HLG, AC Infinity or Spider Farmer. Spider Farmer has stepped up their game lately and have a sweet little affordable 200 Pro. What’s your grow space size. Autos also need a great start with the environment, lighting and nutrients/medium on point :love_you_gesture:

Yes they do. Aggravating assed plants sometimes…grin.

Yep, they can be and definitely have their share of challenges. I’ve gotten very lucky with only a handful of runts or genetic mutants. I wish breeders wouldn’t market them for beginners. Looks like we’re following each other around this afternoon Brother :laughing::love_you_gesture:

I TOTALLY agree. I think a ton of new growers fails are for that very reason. Honesty cant be used in Marketing it seems. Get a new grower established and comfy. Then get them on fast turnaround auto when not going to freak out on them. I see more damage done with panicked recovery efforts than good saves myself. Just my opinion.

Some good dispensaries there.

Nailed it Brother. Yep I hit up the same dispensary when I’m here each month. Got a free pre-rolled Monday for being a frequent customer :laughing::love_you_gesture:

Yea for the veg stage i have 2 MARS HYDRO 2024 TS600 100Watt one for each shelf

For Flower i have VIVOSUN AeroLight Wing AW200SE

I’m used to gardening with the elements outside. I haven’t grown inside in a few years and that wa orchids… that’s why i have the 2 indoor greenhouses and all the T12 bulbs

Each of the grow lights can handle an auto in smaller pot…3 gallon or so. The 100w. That 200 will do a 5-10 gallon justice. I hear good things about the aerolight. The other 2 are tried and true. Footprint will be the key with smaller single lights. Tight as can. Whatever heat allows especially in flower. Not all lights are bad because not newest or brand leaders.

Umm let’s see…

I plan on the first few growing outside while i get the indoor figured out.

When they got their taproot put them in their perm home (read autos don’t transfer well). I layered the soil moistened a few hours earlier with 6.7 PH water… bottom layer soil, middle layer promix, top layer and middle a mix of peat moss and perlite.

They sprouted July 14-15th.

I’ll make a post with links to everything i bought and the “plan”.

However since it became legal in ohio the first few I’m doing outside in my makeshift Hoop house (almost done, just need a few sides.

Very nice Grow Bro and should serve your outdoor grow well. Just remember to harden the tiny seedling off a few hours a day outside before exposing it full time. Run your lights 24/7 during the first few weeks :love_you_gesture:

Going to get big.

Ok, The plan is for me to grow up till harvest then my son will take to harvest, dry and cure (I’m doing for him )

I have a spare bedroom in my basement with a 5x5 walk in closet.

From my orchid days i have 2 indoor greenhouses measuring about 53x34x18.

I plan on putting these 2 greenhouses in the closet, one for seedlings, one for veg.

For flowering i bought
VIVOSUN GIY Smart Grow Tent System 3x3, WiFi-Integrated Grow Tent Kit, with Automate Ventilation and Circulation, Schedule Full Spectrum 200W LED Grow Light, and GrowHub E42A Controller https://a.co/d/bIhsWDT

I also bought the 4x2 tent. I think i would prefer the 4x2 because I’m disabled and i think I’ll have better access to the plants.

My son will use the other for drying.

I plan on most things being automated and controlled from upstairs so i only need to go downstairs a few times a day :joy:.

My mind works with charts and graphs so breaking down the “phases”

Seedling Phase:
Indoor garden greenhouse
3 gal Pots
T12 Lights (24 hrs)
PH balanced or bottle water around an inch diameter around as needed (yesterday used kids medicine cup)
Saran wrap affixed to the sides of pots with binder clips (vent holes) until sprout.

Veg Phase:
Indoor garden greenhouse
Same Pots
Heavy Duty Saucers underneath
MARS HYDRO 2024 TS600 100Watt each shelf
PH Balanced Water
FF Grow Big
Soft Garden ties and Binder Clips for LST around 3rd week

Pre-Flower Phase:
Start lowering FF Grow Big and introduce Tiger Bloom Buds & Bloom, FF Big Bloom and FF Cal-Mag

Then move into Vivosun Tent (4x2)

Flower Phase:
VIVOSUN AeroLight Wing AW200SE
Stop veg nutes and stick with flower nutes
Stop LST

The Vivosun tent has a control hub to monitor the conditions and adjust remotely. So i can see the conditions through the app and control each device (fan, vent, light, etc)

For the 2 greenhouses in the closet i bought a VIVOSUN AeroLab THB1 Wireless Bluetooth Hygrometer that works with the tents hub and i will be able to see the conditions of each greenhouse.

If anything in the greenhouses needs adjusted i will have all devices powered by a “smart” power strip that works with Alexa where i can set up a routine to turn on or off each item. So any device i plug in (light, humidifier, fan etc) i can control remotely.

I also bought 2 “smart” humidifiers that work with Alexa so i can set routines and control remotely.

Other items:
PH meter
TDS Meter for flushing
Lux Meter (i know PAR is better)
Jewelers Loupe
Micro Tip Pruning Snips
Mason Jars
Mini Hygrometers
Boveda humidity packs

And my own care charts i made

Question… has anyone just planted the germinated seed into the 3 gal pot and put outside in a fairly protected area?

I sow all my regular seeds (fruits, veggies and flowers) directly into their pots or ground. Keep the seedlings close in my fenced yard or on the porch.

Wonder if this would work with the weed seedlings on the porch with lights at night?
