Hello all, so first off in growing ILGM WW Auto seeds planted one on March 1st so I’m about a week or two into veg. I’m growing in a vivosun tent 48x24x60 with FFOF soil nothing added. I have only that one plant started and have 1 seed currently germinating, I want to get between 3 and 4 growing at a time on a cycle. Currently I’m using a vivosun 600w LED. For what I am trying to grow(4 plants) what would be an optimal light… not to worried about price at this time so any suggestions are welcome! TIA
One HLG QB260 rspec would be perfect.
The problem with your current LED is the footprint is so small that you have to raise pretty high to get full coverage. Not really possible in a 5 foot high tent. Also, at most I’d have two plants in that space. If wanting to do multiples, a larger and taller tent might be in order.
DIY HLG 2x288 QB.
You can get the HLG light for about the same amount and is a better light.
Check out Growerslights dot com and Horticulture Lighting Group dot com
If you are handy you can buy the light diy with some minor assembly and save a few $$.
The dimmable feature also makes it great to grow seedlings, then you can turn it up to veg them and flower!
OP is working in a 2 X 4 tent so that light would be inadequate at 150 watts to properly flower out a plant. It also has a square footprint, unlike the light I listed.
I’ve seen these and hope they are good lights but I’m already suspicious when they pull the same damned game with ‘grows like a 1,000 watt HPS yet consumes only 150 watts’.
HLG is pretty much on top of the lighting world right now: the only way to get a better light than this is to build one from scratch.
I understand your point and from what you read as far as the specs but I am personally using one in a 36x36x70 , it’s kicking ass doing just fine as you can see from the pictures. I have no issues at all from seed to flower so far.
I promise you this will get the job done! They use ELG drivers apposed to HLG drivers. I believe the ELG drivers have a lower power draw or something. @dbrn32 can help me out here. Those spider farmer lights are a waste. If some is gonna spend that much money they might as well go with the tried and true
In the 2x4 I would definitely go with a QB 260 kit from Horticulture Lighting Group. You wont find a better light unless you wanted to build your own.
Elg driver derates output current to 75% of nameplate on 120v circuit. So, if you’re using standard US receptacle the hlg-240h-c2100 only has output current of less than 1600ma. Makes it more like a 200 watt driver than a 250 watt driver like the similar hlg series.
For some reason cant find what I’m looking for on the HGL website but did find this 225 on amazon…am I starting to get in the right direction? Would something like this cover for 2-3 plants along with a 600w vivosun? Or should I just take the vivosun out?
That light wouldnt cover a rectangular space like your 2x4. Lemme grab a screenshot of what you should get
Thank you!
I’ve seen several using this light so looking forward to reports on how it does. Do report your harvest numbers when you get done. Nice plant.
Here’s 3 plants under a total of 600 watts of LED’s and pulled 2 lbs of flower with one plant a dud.
1.24 grams/watt
This is the recommended light
If money isn’t an issue…spring for their newest version incorporating the new diablo boards
Thanks, SK: I believe that fits his footprint well.
Yall are amazing! Thank you
I have 3 hlg 260 in my 5x5x80. An hlg 260 xl would be nice in his 2x4x5. One board for each plant I wouldn’t put more than 2 plants in a 2x4. JMO. Bottom line I love my HLG’s
