Light Recommendations

Soooooo let’s say a hydro gal wanted to upgrade her lights for next indoor grow. Recommendations?
It would be in a 3x3 that’s like… I think 5 tall. I’m thinking quantum boards!!!

2 hlg 260 rspec

Hell yeah you are thinking QB!!!

As pointed out, 2-260 R-specs will be more than enough. You can dim them a little and that gives you some flexibility.

@MutilatedMoth you couldn’t get me away from horticulture lighting group lights if you tried. The HLG QB288 is the best bang for the buck imo. I get my stuff from rightbud.

Ok ya’ll are gonna have to dumb down the language for me a bit LOL are you all referring to quantum boards???

What’s right bud and what do the numbers after HLG QB mean?

How about these if I were to build from the ground up? (I know I need s power source n wiring n sh*t)

ALSO: where can i go to read about these boards and how they work, how to build my own setup, etc? I need to know how to set up for a 3x3x5, and i dont really understand how to determine the needed power supply or drive or blah blah blah

I knew nothing and was steered toward a qb. It’'s working great, much better than the junk lights I started with. You’re getting good advice and there is a wealth of light knowledge yet to chime in too

@MutilatedMoth Go to HIG website Quantum boards and watch their videos. Will be a lot of help to you plus will show you step by step on assembleing the light. Or you can buy it assembled for about 25 bucks.

This is a great video to watch. It really helped me learn. growmau5 is pretty good at explaining. He has several other helpful videos related to LED lights

The HLG260 stands for 260 watts and has 288 individual LED’s you can search my name in this forum and it shows me building one which is SUPER DUPER easy and one will do the trick imo.

@ThatoneAKguy do you remember what you named the thread? I’m struggling to find it… I’m gonna check on my laptop rather than my mobile once I’m home tonight, maybe that will help me move around the site easier.

You might want to look at the 260W XL or VW. The heatsinks are longer/wide to cover more space. The one linked had the boards right next to each other.

I have a 3x3 setup as well and @dbrn32 suggest the quantum board so i got the HLG 320XW and i grew 2 plants and got a little over 12 ounces the bud was so dense you couldn’t squeeze it! Hope this helps!

The 260 xw kit is the original design for a 3x3. You could also do the 320 xw kit, its basically same thing just with larger driver. But I haven’t really seen either in stock for a while. The standard 260 kit will work too, mattybear has been running in 3x3 for a couple of years.

You could totally build from scratch too, using just about any of the hlg boards or 560mm strips that are available from several manufacturers. Up to you and your comfort level pretty much. I’m sure we can help whatever you decide.
