@dbrn32
And anyone else who has some insight
I tried looking through past post for this answer but there are SOOOO many post about these quantum boards. Looking for my best option for a HLG quantum board(s) . I have a 10x12 room . I want to do 1 light per plant, veg through flower. Dimmable. And pre assembled . Plants will be spaced out so more than one plant per light won’t work in my situation.
Thanks!
How many plants?
How big a footprint for each plant ie are you scrogging and will have a 3x3 or 4x4 plant footprint?
If your wanting one light per plant the HLG 550 isn’t what your looking for. You’ll be looking at something with like one QB 288 board per plant.
Like this one
But again depends on what footprint coverage needed per plant
I’m tagging @dbrn32 hes our light wizard in these parts.
2 plants . Each in their own 3x3 scrog
That is one hell of a grow room to have. I use for my 4x4 two HLG 260xl Rspec kits.
Wonder about 4-288 boards and a 600 driver. Buying it separate will be cheaper than the 600 kit. Think the boards are $65 a piece and inventronics has the driver for $180. Would just need heat sinks and the hardware (wire, ac cord, wagos).
I use this in a 3x3 $240.00
If you want bigger $550.00 (avoid e-bay and the cost)
I think your best bet would be to build square fixtures with 4 packs of 120 or 132 boards.
This is the link I used. Pyper provided it. The link above your last post on this thread.
Thanks, I removed them. Definitely not quantum boards, knock offs from Alibaba that someone was reselling. I believe “quantum board” is trademarked by hlg, lots of people trying to ride their work to make a buck.
Got another question? Is it normal for my new HLG550 to be running at 90 degrees? I’m getting the temp at the top of the board.
Got another question about my HLG550. Is it normal to be getting a temperature of 90 degrees at the top of the board on the light?
Yeah they can get hot if you can’t cool your tent. You can adjust the light setting and this will help you adjust the canopy temps.
Ya, they will probably even get warmer than that.
Thanks bud. It came in this evening, and I got it hung. I put a fan blowing on it.
Thanks! Will do till I get around to putting an air conditioning unit in there. This year is the first time I’ve ever grown inside, so picking up on things as I go. I bought one of those sheds specifically made to grow in. I originally was only going to use it for the winter months, but I’ve grown to like it. I’ll still have some plants out in the field, but not as many.
I got a second light to go along with the 550 you suggested to me. I got the 260 this time, due to the remaining space I’m using. Thanks again for your help.
Looks good
