Light difference

What’s the main difference in LED lights that use say 4 rows of LED and the ones that are solid LEDs across the light fixture?

Not sure. I have been looking at led’s. Would also like some opinions on this.

For the most part the difference is light spread of the bar style light is more spread out coverage a quantum board where the diodes are all together is more of a focused area you have to lift the light to get desired coverage they’re both very good lights just depends on your preference

Also, bar lights allow heat to rise around them very easily and get sucked out by your exhaust fan.
The bigger solid fixtures can act as heat collector plates because the heat has to go around them in order to rise up to where it can get sucked out.

Also most bar style lights you can remove the driver and mounted outside the tent for better heat management. Board lights not so much because I’ve looked at taking my driver off my AC infinity and spider farmer LED and that’s a no-go

You can definitely do it to a quantum board light just a little work and the right wire and no they don’t collect heat

Not this ole country boy. The only thing you going to get me to rewire is a lawn mower :facepunch::wink::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

I can respect that :wink::v:t2:

Absolutely correct. My ChilLED Tech X3 stays way cooler than my HLG 300L(s).

The chill tech has 292 diodes compared to 576 in the hlg I would say the hlg should run a little hotter it’s got nearly twice the amount of diodes?

@JJ520, this is what I was referring to. This is my closet grow several years ago when I had a Nextlight Mega in there.

This is my closet grow now with an HLG Scorpion Diablo that replaced the Mega.

The two fixtures produce a very similar amount of heat, but I have almost no struggles anymore keeping my canopy temperatures in check like I always did with the Mega. The main reason for that is because the heat can easily rise through the open areas of the Scorpion Diablo. With the Mega, the almost 36" x 36" area it took up was a giant obstacle for the heat that was rising.

Thanks for sharing I have a 3X3 tent that I used to always run 2 -300ls in and now I run the 650r in there I don’t have any issues with heat I also run the scorp Diablo in a 4x4 with out issues ,maybe next light runs hot ? Just my thoughts, all lights are not created equally :wink:

I love my HLG350&260 in the 4x4. No heat issues, like the Vipar Spectras.
Twice the output, half the electricity, and cooler temps.
Win Win and Win.
