m no different started out with a shitty light, was told it sucked and wasn’t powerful enough so i bought another. 2 shitties should equal one good one right?? Wrong! Then i thoight well ill just buy a kit and use the light that came with it again wrong. So for all of us who started out with cheapies lets see them… cheers! Here are my first three before finding HLG.
Yep. Left hps amd went cheap led. HORRIBLE flowers. Said screw it and started ponieng up. I have older gen 550r with 301b. No need to ever upgrade. I just replace the qb288’s when flake out. Got rid of all other lights but a bestva 300w…a beast…a kingbrite and my favorite offbrand enfun. The enfun are pretty darn good lights. Crappy build…solid chIps.
Those cheapies got me through a few indoor grows with decent harvests. Upgraded. I have way too many plants outside right now so I wont be starting an indoor grow until I harvest.
Like last year, I think we will be pulling a few inside or draping them to get to harvest.
Sorry for the small thumbnails. This is a briignite 60w. It is full spectrum but no power. I now have the 2 TS1000 from mars in the tent and gave all of the other stuff back to my son. He had given me a plant that had not been taken care of, never manifilded or topped and started budding but I topped it anyway to get more than 1 main and it spread nicely but due to the overall growing period and neglect it produced 1 zip of smokeable bud with a decent high that lasted 49 minutes.
When I started we had no so called grow lights. We had to use our brains and get creative and get on a massive learning curve with no Net, Amazon, Grow Shops, none of it! Most of us could not even get a copy of High Times because Postmasters would throw them out when they saw them. Or any other written martials coming in the mail. To get your hands on HO Fluorescents was a challenge. Because High Output Fluorescents and other lighting tech was only sold through electrical and lighting supply houses. I remember the first HPS 600w I could get my hands on were barn yard lights on sale for $29.99 at a CO-OP back in the late 1970’s. No pics, nobody took pictures back in those days of anything that could be used in or around a grow.
I used six 9 watt led grow light bulbs and 2 19 watt grow lights all from Home Depot. Lesson learned from that first grow experience buy once cry once!!!
I started with aquarium lights that I wasn’t using since I upgraded the tank lights. They were crappy even for my planted tanks. My first plant produced a whopping 1 1/2 oz of fluffy buds
This next time I went with HLG and omg what a difference. Literally night and day! I’m only 4 weeks into flower so no results yet but looking ever so much better!
