Let the 2019-2020 grow season begin

@Bulldognuts Check out my post above. I did some, what I consider, serious defoliation. That was done Saturday with Sunday being there first 12-hour dark period. The do not look like that today. I’m always amazed how fast they recover. I’ll get a family photo tomorrow at lights on.

Have you been following @imSICKkid journal. He did some really aggressive defoliation. Somebody posted a video on aggressive defoliation that was pretty interesting, it may have been Kid. I bookmarked it so I can go back and watch. In the video they had done LST very similar to what I do and instead of lollipoping main stems they had removed almost all of the leaves on each cola/stems and basically illustrating that you could get a lot more growth of buds all the way down the stems vs lollipoping.

What kind of lst do you do? I’m looking for a new technique. I wasn’t really unhappy with what I did last time I just think it could be better. I haven’t done any on this run, I’ll start later this week.

Before I was on forum, on my first grow I had saw a video on YouTube. I was completely flying blind and had no idea about WTH I was doing. The video showed a LST method that I decided to do. I wait to plant gets to fifth node and first top it. Then I take soft tie and wrap around top of plant right under top nodes and pull plant over essentially where it is running horizontal. That allows light to be evenly distributed all along main stalk. I’ll tuck larger fan leaves under until all of the growth starts to even out. If one stem starts to get ahead of others I’ll tie it back until the rest catches up. Once they start really growing and canopy starts evening out I’ll start removing fan leaves that block lower growth. Once they are getting closer to being ready to flip I get more aggressive and start lollipoping from the dirt up. I try not to let to many offshoots grow off of main stems. Usually doing this you can get 8 to 12 main colas.

Does anyone have a table or some data that shows the amount of ppfd and DLI that cannabis plants need at different stages of growth? @dbrn32 @Budbrother @MattyBear @Bulldognuts @Missiles?

I know there are some available but I never saved them. But if you’re running 18 hour veg schedule you should be looking for ppfd average of roughly 400 umols per second. That comes from DLI numvers. Same formula for flowering on 12 hour schedule would suggest ppfd average of 600-1000 umols per second.

This is really unrelated chart from different study, but shows info you’re looking for.

Thanks. I rented an apogee meter that will be here next week. If I set my experiment up correctly I should be able to figure out quite a bit in 7-days.

Map out your area ahead of time and collecting the data should be a breeze.

I’m already working on just that plus I have a helper who is very interested in this whole process. They think I’m crazy for learning so much about the nuts and bolts of growing. I really don’t care it keeps me entertained.

Alot of people learn the basics and leave it at that. Those are the same people who are ok with growing mediocre cannabis. Screw those people!!! Grow bomb weed!!! Lol

You go @Bubblehead you will be teaching the experts a thing or two in the future!! :sunglasses::call_me_hand::v:

That is my goal. I don’t sell any of it but when I share I want people to get that look on their face and ask what the @#&% is in that it is the best I’ve ever had.

I have a long long way to go before I can even think about challenging the likes of the lighting experts on this forum. I can collect data, make tables, graphs and share.

Just stick with it. You have that best of the best looking out for you. You’re gonna be teaching newbies before you know it. :sunglasses::call_me_hand::v:

@MidwestGuy here are a couple pictures of my polyploid. I think she is coming along pretty well. Starting to see some big gains on all the plants going on 5-days post flip.

Thank you @Dman1969 It’s been an interesting grow. She stayed on the small side. I might get 2 1/2 to 3 ounces. I’m excited to harvest and smoke her. I’ve read polyploids are more potent. Not sure how true that is though.

What is a polyploid?
