Let talk about mold and bud rot

@garrigan62 on a side note and corrwyme if I’m on the wrong track
I did save a small amount of the damaged bud and washed it good after I washed my Gg that I only lost a few branches to the rot :+1:
When I washed it all the bad stuff just got ashes off the buds ?
I’m planning on pressing the remaining bud in my rosin press to extract the oils
What are your thoughts about this ???
@Hogmaster I’d like to hear your thoughts as well
Or anyone else who reading along

Extracting oils is a good way to go about that

Look around the house for stuff that you can use like frying pan splatter screens, old picture frames you can cover with mesh or screen, string up with thread, string , yarn etc and hang off hangers or just keep in paper bags and turn them a couple times a day. Look at stuff for what it can be not what it is. Hope that helps
PS I have my buds in wicker baskets in single layers on wire shelves.

That’s what I was thinking @Majiktoker
But wanted to get a few opinions before I press it so you think any mold would serve after washing it and pressing under heat ?
Thanks for joining the conversation @Donaldj
And good points

No I dont believe so in fact I think thatd be your best choice to do with it

Man I feel for you. You did everything right but bud rot is from the center of the bud being too damp. It’s almost impossible to dry it out or stop it at that point. The only other thing that I would have done was remove the first plant that had it to keep the spores from spreading, but you were in a Scrog setup.

Nice :+1: @Majiktoker makes me feel better
I did save the gg I had out there with the ssh so outdoors wasn’t a total lose
I and drying that now
I plan on using all the ssh I recovered for the oils :+1:
Thanks majiktoker
@Daddy yeah I’m not bummed it’s all part of it
Next year I’ll be at it again
Really just wanted to start some discussion about the topic is all in lie of all the issues some many of the peeps here as well as my self had
@Donaldj maybe correct that my strains wherent the best for humid climate I still think the abnormally humidity in the fall here caused my issue or a combination or that and being inside a green hose and also usingvthe scrog in the green house
All some ? No worries I grow inside as well

Thanks so much I’ve got outdoor garden this year as you may know so this is really helpful ive seen it do so much damage to sexy ladies

I think it’s a good topic since many newer growers and even experienced growers forget some of the reasons that there are so many hybrid strains.
Many look at 2 things THC/yields and forget the basics such as Size ease of growing and genetic dominance  not saying a sativa can’t be grown indoors anywhere just that in gardening we have zones and plants which grow well in them.
You did and awesome job @Countryboyjvd1971 and on a different year or even 50 miles away you probably wouldn’t have had issues? When I was younger everyone on the coast grew Indica for a reason then started crossing to get other traits still always searching for the moisture resistance and tolerance strains used to be quite local. People would get seeds from another area have issues then find what works again with global thinking and the ease of which people get seeds for any strain it requires far more thought and planning. I couldn’t grow a Sativa outdoors not enough hours of sun and too cold in fall but some crosses yes I also couldn’t expect same yields from same plant here as in California. Indoor growers going outside make this error all the time I certainly would love to grow outside but know I would be at mother natures mercy
As an indoor grower I have but to think of space little else that I can’t apply some measure of control with

Their are so many different ways of growing, it’s mind boggling. Thanks for your helpful tips…this is worse than figuring out my iPhone…

Thanks @Donaldj truth is brother I didn’t put any thought into it as far as strain etc I just popped out whatever plants I had going
And I’m just trying some info out there bro
I know there are many here that have more info than I do so :+1:
I appreciate you taking the time to discuss this
Next year I will grow something more suited for the region for sure I really can’t grow big outside anyway being in a stupid state lol
Indoors I agree we can grow anything we want because Enviromental controls we have in place
I do think that weather patterns contributed and that’s they way things go outdoors bro

@Countryboyjvd1971 great topic!! This is knowledge for all of us and with the advice from @peachfuzz it sound like I need to stop shaking plants after the rains ( especially when the mold is present) . I am also gonna take the advice of @Donaldj and purchase strains more resistant and with shorter flowering periods . Thank you all again!

Glad we can help @cj7huntngrow that’s what this forum is all about help each other grow bigger better medicine
And learning from others defeats :+1:

I can’t grow outside either snow on the ground this morning and temps have been dipping into the 20’s for a month now and will be until May  not to mention not legal. Which is that other consideration outdoor growers have to factor smell carries

Yes sir it does I’m lucky to have a private piece of property @Donaldj but still can’t be out in the open
Next year I’m looking into off grid power system so I can run exhaust and what not maybe or I’ll just power up my indoor that way ? We will see

Yep. Information overload!!! I’m outside but trying to read about other methods folks here are doing as much is applicable across the board. I’m also on a budget so I use common sense and what I have on hand

You need to start the thread on money saving ideas and growing.

I also thought that we should put our heads together and generate a “ten commandments for first time growers”.

What say you @Donaldj, @Countryboyjvd1971, @bob31, @garrigan62, @Willd, @rodri59, @Screwauger, @DieHigh55
