My plant is leaning at all times not sure what to do. I’ve been trying a string to the mid section to hold it up right but without the string it literally falls over sideways almost equal to my bucket (thankfully hasn’t snapped). My guess is I watered too close and the roots aren’t as stretched as needed and also my plants early life it stretched some due to a cheap light which I sense then upgraded to what’s needed. Any idea how to save it or make it grow stronger/not lean completely over touching my bucket. It’s insane… sigh… in the pic I have it leaning against my wall but like I said it will go all the way down flat…
@Bulldognuts @merlin44 @dbrn32 @PurpNGold74 @MattyBear @Graysin please help!
@kjcarr24 jam a long stick down in that bucket on the opposite side and tie it off.
@kjcarr24 and introduce that girl to a fan stat. Wind will cause her to strengthen in defense. Gradually increased power of course.
looks like too much water.
In my head is a real easy solution. Can u tie together and tie to something heavy? First tie main stem to both sides.
That was my first thought get a stake and stick it thru the soil but wouldn’t that break roots? And doesn’t that affect growth etc? And also I keep a fan blowing on it actually heavy enough that it moves the whole plant backwards lol.
Yea literally just watered it before that pic n yea my first thought was a stake but didn’t wanna break roots
@kjcarr24 ok how about you go get a tomato cage from the store tomorrow and carefully lower it down over top of her and secure her to it?
That sounds like a good idea, would i still be able to easily water it etc n it wouldn’t affect growth?
@kjcarr24 keep in mind cannabis loves complete saturation followed by drought conditions lol. Over watering will lead to smothered roots suffering from root rot. Get to learn your buckets weight after a watering and then again how light it is 3-5 days later. Listen to your plant.
What’s weird is I think in the start I didn’t water far enough from the center and also the light making it stretch didn’t help. However I’ve def learned the dry weight and wet weight. I also do water it then get it almost dirt dry before I water again
I agree with @Fieldofdreams
Wait to water, til really dry. He is trying to copy me. You’ll be ok. Just have fun
@beachglass I tell people don’t let me see something that you don’t want me to learn lol. I’m a knowledge sponge. You happen to know a lot soooooo……
@kjcarr24 consider investing in a top notch light source so you can keep your plants tighter. Spin your bucket occasionally to strengthen the stalk from different directions also.
I would insert a bamboo or similar stake and loosely tie the plant to it to hold it up.
I have never had any issues with the minor root damage caused by the stake.
My suggestion is similar to others but a bit unorthodox.
Get 6 bamboo stakes. Duct tape them to the outside of the bucket you’re growing her in. Use kitchen twine or a trellis net to create a mini-grid support system for her.
I had something identical happen to me in a hydroponic system - apparently clay pebbles are sh!t for bearing the weight of a flowering plant. Bamboo stakes and a whole lot of plant yo-yos saved me - I couldn’t jam the stakes into the hydro system, so I had to duct tape. Now I would probably never do it another way - no root damage at risk that way.
Just drill a hole through the rim of the bucket and tie a string to the main stalk and through the holes. Do 3 or 4 of them around the bucket and boom you got some support lol
I use plant stakes every grow. Very cheap. Bamboo. Will NOT hurt root system. Stick 1 down each limb and tie them to it with pipecleaner or something. Almost finished so can be a bit tighter. Will hold them up just fine. My gg gets very heavy and have to have them the way i grow straight up. I use them to spread and support.
Graysin’s method is great and non invasive but if it were mine I’d just shove a bamboo stick in there and tie it off
Don’t sweat the roots at this point. She’s leaning a) because you have a donkey d!ick of a massive cola forming and that lady is healthy and b) she hasn’t had the stress to goad her into strength, but hoch is not a huge problem. Jab a stake in there and use pipe cleaners to latch her loosely against.
I’ve done something similar with my baby raspberry:
