Was going to cut a button to place on top the trich stump.
But after looking at the lower growth I believe I need to wait and try again in the near future

I tried doing that but the seedlings are still growing at the bases and tended to push the grafts off in a couple weeks. Needs to be a mature starter

The young tricho, like you have left, is still expanding at the base. With such a small starter, the scion overlap heals, but the heart and mass widen and tear it off with the rapid growth on the ones I tried in a similar situation. Mature trichos have more to work with and have the girth for the lil button to stay put.
